b13 vs b14 gearbox
Hey guys, I need your advice on a couple of things regarding gearboxes...
1) Can B14 LSD tranny internals be placed in an LSD B13 tranny
2) Can a B14 LSD gearbox be used with B13 axles
3) Can I install the SR16VE final ratio with B14 internals

The thing is that I have an SR20DET currently N/A with a P11 tranny (cause it was boosted). Right now I dont want to change that engine since I know that its in good shape and is an extremely reliable engine for DD, but I dont want it to be stupidly slow, so I thought that with the shorter SR20DE gearbox with the SR16 final ratio it will help it rev faster, and will also be a good upgrade when the next gear I put an SR20VE in my car...

And Im being offered a B14 LSD gearbox for real cheap, but it has a broken housing, so I was thinking of buying it (for real cheap), then getting myself a cheap housing, and get an SR16VE final ratio from Gspec, and then I will sell my P11 tranny, the thing is that this is my only car and I cant afford to have it sitting in my garage, so its a good thing to be able to build the other gearbox in the garage while I get all the parts

Thanks guys

3. yes, but i'm quite sure both the crown wheel and the pinion need to be changed (which means totally disassembling one of the gear stacks to do it).

turbo car like the load of longer gears. just adjust your cam timing to shift the power band down a bit, or go with a lighter flywheel.

Oh ok thanks, disasembling is not a problem, I just wanted to make sure everything fit

Ya I know, but Im no longer turbo, I have an avenir block but its N/A for now, since I need to pay some debts, and I want to swith to VVL later on (like a year or so), so the low compression + the long gearbox is not a cool combination.

I already have a fidanza flywheel, actually today I was tunning on the dyno when the clutch disc broke

the diff in the sr16 trans uses a different ring gear, so you wouldn't be able to use it.

for the time being slap in some sr16 pistons, and deck the head a decent ammount.

get up to like 12:1 compression real cheap, throw in some bcstage3 cams and springs and retainer for real cheap and ride out till its vvl time.

stratton.

Yeah youre right, I was thinking something like that but with S4s, since the guy I sold my S4s to, still owes me half the money, and I gave the cams to him like 4 months ago, so Im thinking just buying them back or something...

But I really want a shorter gearbox, so probably I will try to get my hands on an SR16 gearbox first, but they are really hard to come by here in Costa Rica

Try and get yourself an M-factory 4.7 final drive. They work in the LSD transmissions. Should shorten up the gears for a nice noticeable difference.

Oh ok thanks, so if I buy the sr16 final drive that Greg sells which comes with the ring gear, then I can use it with no problem right?

The problem is that this car is my DD, and 4.7 is a bit shorter for a comfortable DD IMO, thats why I thought that the SR16 final drive is perfect for track and daily driving
