Sr20de G, NX or SER owners
Hey I have a quick question about the a/c system and since I do not have a factory repair manual thought I would ask it here. Do any of you guys know or have the ability to look up why my a/c condenser cycles both my rad 1 and rad 2 fans on and off when the a/c is running? I can not for the life of me figure it out. My a/c is ice cold and has been since I cleaned the condenser but is there an adjustment on those fans any where. I plan on having my system rechecked and to make sure everything fluid wise is ok but the cycling on and off of the fans and a/c every 20-30 seconds is getting on my nerves.

IS this normal or is there a fix for it. I know most people here do not run the a/c anyway but I would like to know.

is the cycle every 20-30 seconds? It runs all the time at a stand still and both fans and compressor run but when I am moving it will cycle every 20-30 seconds but longer when the open air vent is to fresh.

thanks

Does the compressor cycle with the fans? If it does, it may mean you have a leak/are low on freon. That's the only thing I can think of.

yes it does. System was recharged 2 years ago. May have a leak but it would be small since it is still ice cold in the lines. Could have something to do with the r 134a retro fit. They used ester oil for the compressor. I will have the values checked.

Id say the system is low if its cycling off and on every 20 seconds. The low pressure side is dropping too low which indicates a low charge. Its really something you need to hook gauges up to and look at. It could be a high side problem triggering the high pressure switch on the compressor. But i doubt it.

The only time your a/c should do that is if you are on your low fan speed setting and all the way cold on the dial. And even then it should stay on longer but thats just from what ive seen. And ive worked on a/c system a lot. I do live in the hottest city in the country. lol

I don't see why that would mean its low, it depends on what settings you have it on. what temperature the car is shooting for and how much fan speed is taken into consideration too

what? that is why I asked if there is an adjustment. I may take it to the stealership for the 59.99 a/c service or whatever. I do not think it should be cycling every 20-30 seconds. Could burn the compressor up.
