Motor problem help please
hey whats up guys im having a bit of a problem with it..at least it just doesn't seem normal to me.

basically from when i start the motor(cold warming it up) it wont stay at a steady rpm it will usually drop really low and sometimes stall out(turn off) unless i give it gas then it stay running but not really too smooth..

ok well when its warm enough i go to drive away and it starts to bog and jerk badly unless i rev it passed just about 3300ish rpm then it will drive away nice.

sometimes the car feels as if the fuel is getting cut off or something...like it gets no response of the throttle sometimes.

also lets say i was driving and i punch it to get onto the highway or something you feel as if lots of power gets lost and finally picks up once at 3500ish rpm MAYBE 3,300rpm if im lucky.

any info would help out. tomorrow im going to try and check out the TPS since i didn't find out that that could cause this problem but lets say i have it set correctly what could be the problem?

i have tried using a bottled fuel formula called something like Techron (http://www.texacoxpresslube.com/products/fuel_additives.asp ) and it still didn't help out much
general motor specs:
jdm sr20de
(obd1....dunno if you need to know this)

performance upgrades:
-Ebay bullsh*T intake
-Header with 2 1/2 secondary going onto a 3" pipping (no cat or res....car was boosting before) onto a magnaflo muffler
-Walbro 255 fuel pump(car was boosting before)
-JWT S4 Cams
-timing was advanced to 19
-i have only been putting 93 octane (b/c of the cams and advanced timing)

BTW much thanks in advanced

i just looked at a pic. of the crank pulley on a thread and i think i may have actually retarded the timing instead advanced it...... could the syntoms be what im getting from doing such thing?

Yes! Retarding your timing will make your car run sluggish as all get out.

You need to go back and properly check/adjust your timing, first.

Secondly, you may want to consider going with a smaller diameter exhaust setup. 3" is overkill on an N/A motor. You're sure to lose some power with that. (You could always go turbo )

The S4's should make your car pull very nice. Are you sure your mechanical timing is good to go? Intake at 10 and exhaust at 12, with motor at TDC?

ah yes ....let me just go under my bed and grab the shoe box with a pound of 20's(20 dollar bills equaling to a pound)....meaning i don't have the money for that ......psst ...yet lol but yes im for sure planning on getting something like 2 1/2..... taking offers...anybody interested haha

what do you mean with the numbers intake 10 and exh. 12? im right now on this

im for sure going to not double but triple check my timing ....you mentioned something about ""mechanical timing ""....what exactly is this(i may know but i may have a different wording for it thnx btw for the heads up

to me it kinda sounds like retarded ignition timing

When i first bought my NX it had a similar problem,I remember having this same problem in the past when i had my jetta so i figured it might work on my NX.Bad spark plug wires. When last you changed yours??

Good point. I noticed when my mechanical timing was off, that the car idled fine, but when getting on it, it fell on it's face.

Another good point. Have you checked the basics? Cap, rotor, wires, plugs?

As far as mechanical timing, that has to do with your cams being set correctly, vs. the motor being at TDC on cylinder 1. Chances are like previously mentioned, that you're fine on mechanical timing, and possibly just retarded your ign. timing, rather than advancing it.

Yeah, sounds like timing or i'm gonna go out on a limb here, maybe 1 or more injectors going out? Not to the point where they are bad but going bad.

Hey mate!

Does the car become real hesitant and the throttle seems dead - eg when you punch it, the note of the engine deepens, but it really doesnt increase in RPM?

It could be possible that you Air flow metre has started to pack it in - evenpossible your tps circuit isnt healthy - giving your ecu incorrect figures.

well sofar i was able to replace the spark plug wires and still same problem...

i tried to adjust the tps but i wasn't getting steady readings...although at one point i did get a reading of .44ish and 4.3 ...

im giving it another shot tomorrow at getting a good reading.

next on the list is trying a new MAF ....

i have a question though....underneath the intake mani there is a vacuum line which sucks in a decent amount of air.....i wasn't able to get a good pic of it to see if you guys can direct me to where it may be plugged up to but i found a pic of a motor which shows the hose on it...maybe you guys can help and tell me if it deff goes where i have it(plugged up to the intake) or if it goes somewhere els....

im going to upload the pic soon if i find it again.....it is located right below the throttle body on a high port motor/mani

(could it simply be a ""vacuum leak""?)
