Cruise control retrofit.
Looking to fit my 1992 NX with cruise control. What all do I need to do this from under the dash? I'm going to the bone yard later.
Anyone ever write this up? I looked but it was mostly posts with bits and pieces.

Cheers. B

I did this on a 91 SE-R, but the 91s never came with the option, so it all had to be wired in. I have all my cruise control stuff from the NX, let me know if you need any of it. But obviously the switch, there's a control box behind the dash, and the parts under the hood.

I used this link from SE-R.net when I did mine: Click

A couple wires were different colors when I installed cruise on my 92 NX. You will also need the gauge cluster light, if that isn't listed in the link.

Nice linkie bud! It can probably get done cheaper than that though. $990 is insane and $135 seems like a bit of a ripoff.

Serb; you did this on a car with an aftermarket wheel right? do you still need the steering ring thing?

Not if you put the cruise buttons on the dash or steering column instead of the wheel.

What about a new brake pedal assembly? Is that necessary even on a 92 model?

Jeez that article looks like no fun but I love me some cruise control. Only thing is its like.. oh if I have to remove the dash I should just replace it.... and while I'm in there.... you guys know this routine I'm sure.

Not if your pedal assembly has an extra hole on the bracket and a stopper on the pedal where it contacts the hole on the bracket.

Or, you could just short the cruise harness there and use the clutch switch or cancel button. Slightly more dangerous, though, since the cruise will not go off just by hitting the brake.

I did this on my old 91 se-r. It was more work because there were no plugs for cruise control in the dash harness. If you have a newer car, the plugs should be there.

Here is an option that you might want to check out:

I wouldn't buy that stuff new. I think I paid $20 total for everything I needed at the junkyard. Also, I didn't mess with the clutch switch - I figured I'll hit the brake as much or more than pushing in the clutch.

You should have to pull the dash. You will have to connect to the main "wire junction" that is near the firewall on the driver's side. I mounted all of the engine bay stuff one day in an hour or two, and then I spent several hours on the wiring.
