Way too much unnecessary hate for this car on this article. Is not the greatest car in this category but is not the worst. Toyota sells a lot of the new corollas and that car is boring and bland as it can be. It also looks cheap, does not have a good handling either but people still buy them. Since Nissan brought this model Sentra sales have increased. I guess Nissan knows how to get buyers. We are car enthusiast, this kind of car is not for us. This is basic transportation kind of car and that is what most buyers are looking for. Mazda has one of the best compact on the segment, but for some reason is not selling like it should. Reality is, most of the time what we want does not sells in big numbers. Car companies only want a product that they can sell in big numbers, does not matter how bad it is. If they find a formula and get it to sell that is what they are going to keep making. Another thing, the new civic, ugly as hell, but because it has a turbo now everybody say that is a "great" car. Test drove one some months ago and is not as great as they are saying it is. I know, Nissan lost most of us. The Sentra Nismo probably is just going to be another "blah" car from Nissan. They used to make great cars and they still do, the only problem is that you have to pay big $$$$$ for them. GTR, 370Z, Q50 for example.

Just got my July issue of C&D. In a budget comparo the Sentra came in dead last out of five. No surprise...

+ Faster than walking, shelters you from the elements.
- Crude handling, uncomfortable seats, underpowered engine
= The most basic of transportation

"It's the heaviest and least powerful car here, the tallest and narrowest, the most expensive and least satisfying."

"130 hp moaner"

"Even for unashamed buyers of basic A-to-B transportation, the Sentra is a sorry choice."

"In the 1990's, it's astonishing Sentra SE-R drew comparisons to The Sacred One, the BMW 2002."

I will say that Nissan is well aware of those articles, and although I wouldn't anticipate any major changes for this generation, there is hope on the horizon.
