My dad bought a 04 Titan 2wd new(1st year).
It has been a great truck.Over the years,it has towed cars, boats and their 28ft. camper/trailer with no issues.
Gas mileage does suck like 12-14 mpg,but it has some serious balls,so thats the trade off.
They have over 100,000 miles on it now and still runs like new.

There was a brake recall done back in 05,but otherwise there have been no repairs...just tires, brakes, oil changes, etc.

Same for my 05 frontier 4x4.... 100,000 miles so far no issues either.(also the 1st year of this bodystyle)

Granted my uncle is an SCCA racer and takes care of that truck really good inpecting everything all the time and routine maintenance on point.

Those are all good things to hear. Is it a 4x4?
I will be looking to keep this truck for at least 200k miles and to stay in my budget for this truck It looks like I will be buying one with 100k. I maintain my vehicles very well(they might not get washed all the time but fluids and normal checks are def in order). I am just looking into recalls and personal experiences with them as I only drive 5 miles round trip to work and then another 10 miles round trip to the shop daily. I dont want to deal with any issues.

Thanks for your insight guys. I am shopping for one of these as we speak. I went looking at tundras and they seem to be right around the same price if not a tiny bit more but the Toyota camry/corolla dash is really buggin me. And the turning radius is a little shatty for my liking. Im leaning towards the titan. Im gonna keep shopping though. Not in a major rush but I have 2 cars I want to sell in the process for this truck(I own 4 vehicles now and Im looking to consolidate

FYI on the Titan when you look....you can get floor shift w/buckets or column shift with bucket style bench seats.
Seems like its roomier with the column shifter,IMO.It has a giant center console that folds up for a 3rd passenger up front too.

Tundra= best turning radius in its class in 07.

In 09 it came 2nd behind Ram.

Just a thought

As for the dash, I've plastidipped mine lol. Looks and feels great. I don't like the stock dash itself nor the lights on the cluster. Will change those soon as well.

In my opinion as to what I see in my shop less that needs work ... Toyota tundra , nissan tittan .

What is see in my shop almost every day ...
Ford's they have issue with spark plugs lifting out of the heads and need to retaped on thier good old 5.4's. Theu have issues with cross over pipes on the intake causing coolant leaks . And f150/f250 needs upper and lower ball joints every 20-30k miles ...Ask me how i know that !

Chevy 4.8,5.3 have issues as well ....leaking intake , cat converters ,fuel pumps .

Again my opinion not to steer you in any direction . I had a 2004 siverado 4x4 5.3 v8 . I went threw 2 inner tie rods , 2 window regulators , 1 pinion seal , 1rear caliper , 1 set of U-joints , . All under 60k miles . I sold my truck to member black93ser (kevin) in DE he's had good lick with it then traded it in for a deisel truck .

Also 2002-2005 silverado's have evap issues like mine did but i never fixed . Its the vent valve in the back gets dirt in it and sets po440 codes . There is a revised vent valve that has a filter on it as chevy had a ton of tsb's on this problem .

It's funny you say that. Our current fam fleet is:
Me: 97 ford expedition 5.4 with 95k
Grandfather: 03 Yukon xl with 123k 5.3
Father: 08 Tahoe Ltz with 45k 5.3
Work vehicle: 09 silverado with 24k 4.8
All the motors with issues lol. I want a Titan but I just got told that they sometimes have little rust issues from my cousin who's sister in law owns a 07 Titan LE with 64k miles.
