I thought I could replace the CV boot on my G20 driver's side axle from Raxles, but I had the same problem. No amount of hammering would remove it.

I asked Marty at Raxles, and he said their outer CV joints can be very difficult to remove, and recommended removing the inner CV joint, and sliding the outer CV joint boot on that way.

Soooo...lesson learned, buy both CV boots if you only need the outer replaced.

I had a hard time removing my OEM ones, but that's because I was hitting it on the inside (where axle comes in contact with the joint).

I found that taking a medium sized hammer to the outer rim of the joint got it off. It did dent it, but meh, who cares .

The only way I could get the outer joint off was to remove the Axle and hold the Shaft in the vise and hit the joint with a 1/2" dia punch and big hammer.

i was able to remove the outer CV joint just by hammering the inside of it after the boot was removed.

The C-clip is usually what makes it difficult to take it off especially if the boot has been off for a while and rust builds up, then presoak in PB Blaster for a few minutes.

Then it should come right off with a few good " balanced " whacks ..what i mean by " balanced " is due to the CV joint being naturally " wobbly " it tends to move around alot, so one trick i use is to hold the CV joint as close to the shaft as i can and whack it hard while turning the whole shaft to get a complete and equal whack on it .

Hope it makes sense
