What is this thing and what is it's purpose?
No mention of it in the FSM. It's a solid bar and hangs off the lower rad support by plastic brackets and is suspended by what look like mini motor mounts. This is on my 93.5 P10, but my other P10's had it too.

It is a "Mass Damper". They are added to improve passenger comfort, absorb engine vibrations, harmonic vibrations from suspension input, etc.

Interesting, thanks. I wonder how much it weighs and if I'd notice a difference inside the car with it removed?

it weighs a few kg, we have them on n15 sr20 in europe too, i disposed of mine

I removed mine. It is just for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) in the frame. Plus I have some Garrettsville, Ohio stuck up in that piece. Thankfully it was nice and moist that day.

Only one of my b14s has it there. Maybe it was removed from one of the cars before i got it.

I believe P11s have it above the bumper support, not below.
Could be wrong, never owned any P chassis cars.
