This is the ignition map from the low power thread above. I'll let the map speak for its self.

For the tuning impaired, what does this say in noob terms.

So you are telling me he is going to find 60-70 WHP (Over 100 Crank HP) with some more aggressive timing on Pump Gas at the same Boost level??

Now your putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about power outputs or the state of the ignition map.

However I do think lots of power can be found with a better tune. Maybe not 70whp but a good amount of usuable power. However a knock off turbo will never compare to the real thing.

Just for a reference I have traction controll based ignition maps on my car and I was able to pull out about 160whp with about 8° of ignition retard and pulling back 6 psi of boost.

yes you can gain 50-70whp with a properly tuned car. i didnt see that in the thread until now, I might have to get one to pay with!

edit: forgot to mention he also has stock cams and RWD.

I also still wonder if this Twisted Motion GT2871R is journal bearing or ball bearing. Could that be part of the reason for the lower dyno numbers vs what the Garrett GT2871 is capable of??

What if someone turbo knowledgeable (obviously not me) called and ask some questions.......?

To clarify the above statement:

The twisted motion gt2871r is indeed a journal bearing turbo. I don't think anyone is saying this is going to perform the same as the Garrett but maybe it's in the ballpark and what some may consider an acceptable turbo given the price point.

I'm not sure if being journal bearing, by itself, means lower hp over a bb equivalent.

Maybe someone turbo enlightened can speak to the below Twisted Motion t2871 specs; and how the wheel sizes and a/r impacts power compare to the Garrett unit. Could this and the fact its journal bearing explain the lower numbers?

Compressor Specs (intake/cold side)
Compressor Wheel
Inducer Diameter ~ 52.4mm
Exducer Diameter ~ 71.2mm
AR ~ .60
Trim ~ 52
Compressor Inlet ~ 3.0 inch UPGRADE
Compressor Outlet ~ 2.0 inch

Turbine Specs (exhaust/hot side)
Turbine Wheel
Inducer Diameter ~ 53.8mm
Exducer Diameter ~ 47.2mm
AR.64
Trim ~ 71

LoL omg, I thought the name Twisted motion sounded familiar. They posted a pic of a Protech Medusa header and claimed that they built it on Instagram some time early this year. LoL
