Best ignition sistem for stock sr20ve+t and safe boost for the pistons and rods?
Hi, interested in boosting my sr20ve, its going take place under silvia s12 hood, so using the stock ignition sistem is not an option for me as i dont want to move engine front, and i dont want to cut my firewall. I am going to use ms3pro module build into the ca18et original ecu, using the original harness(done this before with other cars like s13 and s14 silvias) so i will use camshaft angle sensor from sr20det rwd, reworked to fit in the sr20ve shaft. But about the ignition coils for boosted engine, whats good option for the money? Also, what are the safe boost level with holset hx35 12cm2 turbo, and how is the stock 10,3:1 CR feeling when boosted? Are the rods strong enough? For example i had honda before, and i pushed to 15psi with no problems the stock engine, i also had sr20det, but they are 8,5:1 so no boost problems there I want to keep the stock CR, i am using 98RON fuel so no problem with Fuel. Good pump and big injectors also on its place .. so fueling is not an issue at all. Only problem is i dont know when this will normaly break from torque(not misfires) and also not sure what ignition system to use. Any good tested coils for sr20ve?

A good setup you should consider is Mazworx hall effect kit with a MW Pro CDI with CBR or GSXR coil. No need to run the factory CAS because the hall kit with send the signal needed. Can you ECU support a CDI and Hall?

Stock 20V/VET/S15 coils are a great option IMO.

As for how much boost is safe. Nice try buddy. I wasn't born yesterday.

k20 coils run from a ems. they are good to 600whp unlike the 20v/s15 coils which are only good to about 350whp. The k20 coils are also smart coils and do not require a external driver.

Thanks but mazworx hall effect is not an option for me, the CAS is already made, and also MW Pro CDI for stock engine bottom? Are you guys kidding ... i am hoping the engine to cope with 10-12 psi from that turbo, you speak for 600+hp setups ... you guys are not getting the whole idea ... i can use VAG coils for 600hp and they cost here 100usd for all 4 ... i have the cbr coils, but i will use them only if i find some diy working cdi or some cheap working cdi ... so for now not an option to pay big money for stock engine bottom ... and i am not asking from you to tell me how much my engine will take ... i am asking just if somebody boosted stock internals sr, to tell me how much he boosted it with no issues, and what hp he made ... nothing more ... so if in the forum someone puted turbo on his stock 10:1 CR or near sr20, with stock bottom end ... how much boost he used, what fuel etc.

If some one really wants to help me, all i need is hp numbers you or your friends made on stock bottom sr20 N/A when boosted, what turbo used, and what psi they run ... thats about the turbo question, nothing more ... i will use it for refference for how strong is the bottom end. For honda i can easy tell you that almost every honda engine can handle at least 10psi without problems, and almost double its horse power ... thats from my expirience ... i am asking here you guys, because i presume you have some expirience with boosted sr20, and i dont want to push the engine more than it can handle ...

And what i want to hear about my ignition question is if somebody uses home made diy cdi for his bike coils, or some not so exotic coil options. What is my contribution to the topic is cheap idea you can use if you want ... BMW m52 coils fit and give good spark for more than 400hp, also audi 1.8T BAM coils are good for more than 400hp, tested on engines up to 7500rpm(det engines) with no issues. So, do you guys use for example toyota yaris/aygo coils? They seem to be very good coils, just not sure if they fit to the sr20ve head.

Say what? The 20V/VET/S15 coils have built in switching as well.

Sorry ben the s15 and 20v coils are smart coils as wells but they are only good to about 350whp. I got this data directly from marsh.

Do you think stock sr20 bottom end csn handle even 350hp? Why to make 600hp expensive setup when the engine will blow piston or brake rod at 300?
