Question: GTiR gearbox with SR20DE fitment problem
Has anyone done this before with success. I am in the beginning stages of this project and have heard some people sayign that there is a problem trying to fit the AWD gearbox from the GTiR pulsar to a non-turbo SR20DE. I have already acquired a highport SR20DE and stripped it totally and tapped it and now I am hearing this. I have the entire GTiR setup, gearbox and rear subframe to fit in an AWD B13 over here. Has anyone fitted the box to the non turbo model SR's with success? If there was any modding can you please also let me know? I am going home today to find out but if anyone knows offhand please let me know.

You have to run a DET block. The DE block has to much material. You can not modify the DE block for the AWD trans to fit. THe castings are totally different.

Another question now, would it bolt to a VE block? I am thinking to do a VE-T setup one time if possible.

VE block is same as DE in terms of upper oil pan, no room! If you look at the DET block, you will see how the block is cast different and there is much less material and the upper/lower pans don't protrude toward the firewall as much.

Is it possible to get the upper and lower oil pans off a DET maybe that has spun a bearing and use it one my DE is the boltup the same? Sorry for the different questions but just trying to not just have an extra DE sitting there if I can get away using the already cleaned block.

The deal is that the AWD block is the narrow block which is the reason for the different oil pan. I can post a pic tonight of the dif pans= dif block widths at the base, but there is a huge difference. On the gtir block the gridle has maybe a cm or 2 of clearance from the block to the girdle, look at any other det de block and there is ~10cm on one side and maybe 8 on the other, just guessing form memory, but there is a huge difference.

^ do it right the first time and you will save yourself many headaches.

sell the DE and buy a DET if AWD is what you want , just out of curiosity what do you plan to make AWD ?

i have yet to see a succssfull AWD DET swap . i remember there was a thread about some one making a red b13 awd and turbo but the guy all of a sudden disapeared.

Brent it was you that had the Pulsar NX AWD turbo ? i remember it was black or dark grey.

that would be a bad azz sleeper.what happend ?

This B13 came AWD drive and the GTiR rear suspension is a direct upgrade for it. So what are you guys saying, I need a GTiR block now or any other DET block?
