Yes, this is the same car in the garage when you came down to see me.

Yesterday Nick came over to my Job at Mitchells Welding and we took a few measurements and a few looks at things to change and we have now 3 very clear ideas to get 580-600 WHP at 20 PSI.

19 PSI 543

We were making about 11 WHP average per every pound of boost from 10 -18 PSI. So 20 will be 554 WHP.

I have guarantted Nick that the next 2 small changes we make will make 25-30 WHP more.

Larher filter is on the way and larger exhaust is being worked on.

Did you use an S13 harness to swap this engine into the B13?

nope.

The harness is B13.

If you look there is a B13 distributor and Ultra Wires.

It has a MSD digital 6 and MSD coil

I guess i read it wrong, I thought you were referring to a JWT. I'll still take a standalone over a Nistune/Calum any day though

3 inch starts to become restrictive at 500-550 WHP

3.5 inch exhaust is good up to 750-800 WHP so there is no need for 4 inch and 4 inch is not going under a sentra from turbo to bumper.

at 20 PSI the step from 3 to 3.5 will yeild another 15-20 WHP. That and the larger air filter will be more than enough to where we are going.

The goal here is to get to 700 WHP before 30 PSI.


The only way to do this is with

1. 3.5 inch exhaust
2. larger filter
3. larger turbo

we are going with the cheaper stuff first 1 and 2. The goal is to make the setup as efficent as possible before going further up in HP.

I also feel that 11 WHP per every pound of boost is very low from 10-19 PSI. It should have been more like 14-15 WHP.

Agreed. With the extra displacement and flow working in your favor 14-15 WHP per psi should be quite obtainable. The slightly lower compression is working against you, but still, I see it happening.

Is this the right the compressor map for the current turbo? If so, I agree 100% with the need for an upgrade.

^I'm going NIStune RT on both my 2.3L VE and 87mm DE+T builds. I just don't think it's 'all' that necessary to get a standalone for a build in my case aiming for 250whp and 500whp.

GT37 Turbo is good for 600-700 WHP. We are at 79% to 91% of that WHP range depending on how you look at if from 550 WHP.

Now if a turbo is only good for 600-700 WHP. Boost has nothing to do with the effiecy range. If this motor was 4L and made 600-700 WHP at 15 PSI then thats all the turbo has and nothing more.

That being said, it has nothing to with the efficincy range of the turbo at this point, a turbo of this size would 100% make 13-15 WHP already at 20 PSI, so you are incorrect. Also compression has nothing to do with the avergae WHP gain of a turbo as it goes up in boost.

It has to do more with the exhaust. The exhaust is full 3 inch but the Apexi Dunk has some silencer pipe design that only has a 2.65 inside diameter.

The 2.2VE motor at 9-1 compression and ported head would make no more than 225-230 WHP NA. On boost we made 445 WHP at 10 PIS. This is 215 WHP more. That is an average of 21.5 WHP per every pound of boost from 1-10 PSI.

The average of 11 WHP fron 11-19 PSI has to do with air flow.

As you go higher up it takes more to push the air through the exhaust making it less effecient. That being said 580-600 WHP is what the car will make once the larger 3.5 inch exhaust goes on which will keep the boost to WHP average higher up before it drops off. Decreasing efficiency on a 3.5 in exhaust will start at 700 WHP or so.

I dont raise boost to make numbers BenFenner ( easy way out), I try my best to look at the things that are wrong at a given pound of boost and work from there. 20 PSI at 555 WHP is the cross over point when it comes to air in and air out with what we have

My main goal is making the system more efficient not going up on the boost.
