Well if you get a B14 trans.. unlikely to have popout.. or even better, B15..

Quick little (or big) update - pics later

Got the transmission housing back last weekend from the machine shop. He wasn’t able to get the entire thing welded by the time I needed it so I took it back with at least the threads fixed. Went back to the shop to assemble it which was pretty simple thanks to Nissaneggs thread and pictures I took during the tear down happened.

The shift fork mechanism was a bit of a pita. I snapped one of the 3 bolts that hold it down (of course on the last turn while tightening them lol) managed to get the bolt out and replaced all three with stronger bolts. Managed to seal it up and decided it would probably be best if i let it sit for a day or two for the silicon to dry up and decided to go back to the shop today For the install.

Got the transmission in the car today and was able to drive home in 5th gear! I’m stoked to know i was able to tear it apart and put it back together without having extra parts or bolts left over lol.

Big smile on my face right now. Next job on my list is to rebuild the transmission I took out today and have it as a back up.

Thank you to all who helped and chimes in!

Congratulations. It's a good feeling when a plan comes together and something you fixed with your own hands works like it should.

Projectmk3,

Is it possible to get the list of all part numbers used to conduct the 5th gear popout issues
And just making sure, the same procedures apply to b14 tranny?

Trying to help my father do this as i am currently deployed at sea

It should be the same if the b14 is an LSD transmission (i don’t know if it’s any different from a nonlsd though)

This is what Gspec was able to propose. I purchased it all with the exception of the following;

- Neutral Position Switch
- Reverse Lamp Switch
- Sleeve & Hub

The trickiest part of this all was honestly the aligning the gear selectors.
