Ah f here we go. Need advise on shipping insurance
Alright so we got an issue. I posted photos before of a p11 transmission packages and ready to go. Here's a refresher:

See the difference? I had a solid wood pallet made specifically for the transmission. They repackaged it, didn't screw it down, and the pedal, mc, and reservoir is nowhere to he found. The packaging material has clearly been ratched and tbh he's understandably not happy.

I luckily insured it for $700, but because he had a forwarding company take it from Miami to panama, I have zero proof of who did it, ups or his company.

Thoughts? I mean, parts are just GONE. If you look close, the pedal and mc etc are screwed into the wood just as the transmission was.

Odds are very high the 'reshipper' is responsible for the repackaging portion. There is really no reason for UPS to mess with packaging unless it somehow came apart in transit (which is possible of course). The forwarding company should have refused shipment if it showed up no longer properly packaged (but this is a challenge of dealing with a 3rd party like this)

But isn't that the whole point of a forwarding company is they move stuff over into their own containers and repackage as needed?

The 1 time I shipped a transmission to Miami to a freight forwarding company I had it in a custom made box that was then put inside a rubbermaid container and it was forwarded just like that in my case (in the rubbermaid container and custom built box inside of it was untouched so it made it to Sao Paulo in perfect shape).

@Dala, I doubt those plastic tie-straps are gonna hold that! You're better off bolting it to the pallet.

Guess what showed up early this morning? The mysterious missing pieces!

Now, check the address label and also the GENIUS sending of the now USELESS pallet to make me pay a pretty penny in shipping weight, since the box is over dimensioned and volumetric charges applied.

It does seem the stupidity was indeed carried out by UPS

That's what I said. If it was my shipper's repackaging they would have asked me first. But the box just arrived sealed so they got it to me like that

Ups is asking for an invoice if you have one showing the exorbitant amount you were charged. Can you get that to me?
