Matt Kempe - Happy Motoring M.K.
Matt Kempe - May 7th, 1979 ~ February 26, 2000 - A moment lost in time.

14 years ago this morning, fellow SE-R enthusiast Matt Kempe was lost in a tragic car accident. Matt was 20.

I have been thinking about today on and off since last September. Regretting not posting something sooner, and not wanting to live my life with regrets, here I now sit. Unable to sleep. Unable to type.

Here are some of the links to SE-R.NET and Matt's memory. They tell the story just after it happened.

I can't believe this was 14 years ago. This was back in the SE-R List days. Good guy, well liked, and sadly lost it all in a freak accident while driving to help his friends.

I said the same thing Jim, I cant believe it's been 14 years already. I still remember reading the terrible news on the se-r list and feeling the incredible shock/disbelief of what had happened.

Happy Motoring-MK 15 Years Later...

Today marks 15 years since Matt's passing. 15 years. I can't help but think of him as I travel today to Willow Springs with friends for a track day tomorrow.

Matt - we will all be chasing that Viper in your memory tomorrow.

I found the community around the time this happenned and was taken back by the amount of love in the community after this tragedy. It opened my eyes to how cool this community is. Although I never got meet him,it seems Matt will always be remembered.

Well said, Jay! I also really liked how the community, despite the tragedy, rallied to win that ultimate streetcar challenge in his honor.

Thank you for the memories...hard to believe it's been 15 years!

I remember reading the message about this the very moment it was posted on the old SE-R mailing list, still eerie to remember. And can't believe it's been 15 years. Just like the words under my avatar, where does the time go?
