Update from the first Rally event.

3rd overall, probably would have been 2nd, but using reverse doesn't help....beat out by the SA national champion, but not by much. Jimmer's had the same issue in his SER.

Feels much faster than last year, doesn't feel as bogy.....maybe the a/c should come out too. The anti-dust system works awsome, didn't eat dirt any that day.

2WD RallyCross cars spend a lot of time spinning the wheels. You want that SR20 midrange torque to power through the silt and clag. If you're worried about dirtying up a SE-R, find a rough one for Stock or Prepared, or SR20 swap a base B13 to build a Modified class car.

Believe me, Bobby's car was pretty rough when purchased, and was pretty rough when the previous owner got it. Most other cars in similar condition would have fallen down that slippery slope to getting parted out and crushed.

Absolutely. I've found myself really wishing for more torque when courses get really dug up and you start getting bogged down in the loose stuff.

I think a high-compression SR20 would be the best option (and why I have a set of SR16VE pistons sitting on the shelf next to where my extra high-port engine is sitting...

A 1.6L B13 is slow getting out of the turns. The rest of the time it's decent, but there's no making up for that. I've run against one that was driven by a guy with more experience, and who is probably faster than me all things being equal, and with the SR20DE it was no contest at all.

Oh yeah when I got it was a total piece (still kinda is) The passenger side had moss growing on the inside, and we won't even talk about the rust, not that 250k miles on it had anything to do with it.

I am convienced that the bigger the POS the harder you will drive it at a rally, because it doesn't matter. And it gets the crap driven out of it.

It was perfect!

You definitely showed us how its done. Nice build. Looking into suspension change myself the intercooler jarred loose on the first run. I think I needed a chiropractor afterwards lol. My wife loosened a few bolts too
