Gus,

Youre racing in NASA events, right?

I'm hoping so, because pulling the door beam out isn't legal in R-A.

I did race in Rally America with no door beam and never was told anything about it , at the same time I don't know if they did now about it , my log book was a NASA book , I do have a spare set of doors if I need to change them .

Rally America nit picks certain things, ignores things that are in the rulebook, and complains about stuff that isn't in the rulebook (such as pinning your belts). It's up to the tech inspectors, really.

Since you're going to have panels covering your door I don't think they're going to bother asking you to take them off.

What don't I understand what is the purpose of the door beam with the cage , is it like the first line of defense ?

I would think so. Personally, and this is aside from the rules or whatever, I would want as much side penetration protection as possible to prevent tree branches or posts from poking into the cabin area. Tubing will protect you from smashing into big immovable objects (impact accidents) but if there's no skin (like armor on a tank) then things that can penetrate will go right through. No tubing is going to protect you from a well placed pine tree branch, but another layer of sheet metal might make the difference. Just my thoughts on that, actual rally accident data ( if it exists) might say otherwise.
