A couple shots of the seats set in the car and the cage as it stands.

That cage looks to be fitting very nicely. Looks like awesome fitment to those A Pillars!

Oh yeah, and about the seats, how do they fit you? I'm 6'2" and I've been thinking about the Evo series. My concern is that the seats I've sat in the past always have shoulder / arm interference when I'm turning the steering wheel. Do these have good clearance in those areas?

Appearances can be deceiving. Actually, I'm very happy with how the cage fits everywhere except along the actual A-Pillar. It's tight at the roofline, and around the main hoop, but if you view the car head-on you'll see a very large gap along the a-pillar at the windshield.

I'm 6' 0", but with a long trunk and short legs, relatively. The Evo seats have always fit me pretty well. They're wide enough at the shoulders to not cause issues (and I have very broad shoulders). I've had them in vehicles ranging from RallyCross (with runs that are a couple minutes, tops), ice racing (30 min), ChumpCar (2 hour stints) and stage rally (all day) and found them comfortable.

Sparco Evo series seats. Evo3 for me, and Evo2 for the navigator seat.

I love the fit of the EVO seats great choice and your header wrap job is a hell of alot better than mine. I used the DEI TI wrap on mine as well and those stainless ties, the stainless ties they sell are crap man, I could never get them tight enough. Had to use hose clamps.

Hmm, good... looks like my choice has been reaffirmed.

As for the A-pillars, that's what gussets are for

Over the weekend swept out the interior and then brushed adhesive remover everywhere to remove the residue of the sound deadening, then scrubbed and cleaned all that out. Still have to wash it down with soap and water to get all of the stripper out.

Pulled out the plasma cutter and cut reinforcing plates for the rear strut tower tops.

Pulled the last of the stock suspension and worked on cleaning it up to sell.

Drained the transmission. Then spilled the gear oil all over under the car.

Dumped a half a bucket of oil absorber on it and called it good. Have to go back tonight and start scooping that stuff up and really getting it clean.

Off to pick up the front spindles with new bearing pressed in from my friend's shop.

Need to find out why my new rack boots haven't shipped

Spent most of last night cleaning up the mess from the spilled gear oil. Why is is always gear oil I end up spilling when working on a car? It has to be the nastiest, stinkiest, gooiest crap anywhere in a car (at least that can spill).

Got the interior mopped out to clean off the residue from the adhesive remover, so now I need to clean up the joints for the cage.

This is a great thread Mark. I am enjoying your build very much.

I am interested in obtaining more suspension travel in my B13 as well. It sounds like you're working on custom links for your rear suspension, but have you tried to get any more travel from your front suspension yet? How much more travel will the stock CV joints allow before they bind?

Cheers,

Mike

1. Subscribed.
2. DId you figure out what you are going to do with your transmission? If not, ask, we may be able to help.
3. Interested in your rear link solution. Note that from Road Racing experience in the forums, it was not the parallel ones that were the major problem but the trailing link.
