Deleting power steering
Anyone here delete their p/s and race auto cross? If so, how does it feel and was it worth it?

Race car: not a problem, adrenelin + Red Bull takes over. You do not even notice it. Daily driver different story.

I have mine kind of deleted.

as in its hooked up with little to no fluid. Its fine for every once in awhile, but hell no on a daily.

there are few opinions on how to delete.
looping the system
just remove everything and let it run with some kind of tensioner in place
manual rack conversion

then you will run into more questions. good luck with your decision. I still havent found my preferred solution, but Im thinking delete everything including pump and run an electric water pump.

I was thinking of wither looping the system or swapping to the manual rack.

I would not suggest it for AutoX ... For track days its awesome , my Track '98 SE has no PS and I love it , I did one autox and went home after one lap ... way to hard to get the quick direction changes thats needed on an auto X ...

I wouldn't suggest looped lines or manual rack for auto-x either. With looped lines you'll be wishing you had power assist in tight sections. With the manual rack you'll be wishing you had the turning ratio (lock-to-lock) of the power rack in the tight sections.
That's my opinion anyway.

Definately stay away from the manual rack for autocross. Since my car is actually an E, it has the manual rack and you have to turn the wheel a rediculous amount during and autocross run. It is such a pain in the ass. The car is a lot of work to drive fast. That being said, I still managed to win my class, SMF, yesterday!
