The NEW OFFICIAL SR2011 Convention
Hello Everyone!
Due to recent events as you may all know the 2011 nissan/infiniti convention has been cancelled due to lack of commitment. With this being said we’d like to announce the NEW 2011 SR20 convention Revival. This will be held from august 5-7 in Central Connecticut. A schedule of events is below. Any questions can be sent via PM to Marksr20, Jimithin7000, or happynole. Emails are also accepted, email addresses listed at bottom of this message.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

Four Points by Sheraton Meriden
275 Research Parkway
Meriden, CT 06450
Phone: (203) 238-2380

Ok, here goes. You have 3 choices on rooms. 2 double beds or 1 king bed will be $80 plus taxes (currently 12% = $89.60). There are also a limited number of king suites (separate bedroom with sofa bed in sitting area, wet bar, and kitchenette) for $105 plus tax. If you call to book a King Suite and are told none are available send me a PM asap. There are only 10 and she only blocked 2, but can open more until they are gone. You will call 1-800-368-7764 to book your room and tell them you are with the SR20deep event at the 4 Points Sheraton in Meridan. You will need a credit card to make your reservation as you will be responsible for all of your own charges. Remember that nothing is charged to your card until you arrive. We have a block of 20 rooms at those rates held for us until July 4th. After July 4th the block is off and you pay the going rate if rooms are available. The only thing we are paying for as of now is the Hospitality room for Friday so that we will have someplace to check in. They have agreed to waive that $120 fee if we book 20 rooms. We can book more than 20 rooms up to the hotel capacity at our locked in rate, but only until July 4th. BTW, The code is active as I just got done booking my rooms.

Friday:

Depending on your arrival time we have a few options that can best accommodate everyone!
A) Hotel arrival and check in:
Once everyone is settled into their rooms I think dinner should be a great place to meet and greet. There is a restaurant/bar-grille that is next to option B below that will serve as a great place for food and an introduction to the weekend of events
B) Kart Racing:
On Track Karting Ultimate Indoor Racing Take a look at this website to get all the information you need about these go karts. After Dinner/meet&greet we’ll make our way over to the kart track for some racing fun to start the weekend off right. Every year we have a sr20deep meet/outing, it ends up starting or finishing here. For those of you that are not interested in this please check out option
C) Dyno:
We have 4 dyno sessions available at The sr20deep HQ on Friday night starting at 6:00pm and wrapping the night up at 11:00pm. If you would like base runs and/or tuning please specify. It is a dyno dynamics unit. This is by signup only. If you would like to watch at our facility that is an option as well.

Saturday:

Drag Racing/ Free day
A) Lebanon Valley Dragway:
The gates open at 8:30am and racing starts at 9:30am. Racing ends at 4:30pm , The cost is $35 . This facility is located an hour-1/2 northwest of where we will be staying and it will be a fun caravan there and back.
This is a message I received from the track:
Mark you are welcome at the track on Sat. for test and tune . The cost is $35.00 dollars per car and driver ,crew is $10.00 dollars . We can have a seperate lane for your group. Anyone running 13.99 or quicker will need a Snell 2000 or newer helment. Wayne: lvdragway
If we have a group of over 20 cars drag racing(which I don’t see that being a problem) we will have a separate lane setup(2 car lane) so we can race against each other !
B) Dinner/Nightlife:

After Racing all day Food should be in order.

OPTION A:
There is a street scene in our area that is very popular from all types of cars. Whats nice about it is there are restaurants all over the place where these cars tend to hang out. Depending on the mood your in we can all do a TBA restaurant and enjoy the night out doing what we all are interested in(eating and cars!! LOL)

IF IT DECIDES TO RAIN:

CASINO: For all of you that like to gamble or even if you HATE gambling this is something you need to see if you havent already! We have the third Largest casino in the world(Yes I said it, IN THE WORLD) in Connecticut. Foxwoods casino has everything from a shopping mall to restaurants and nightlife! Not only that we also have Mohegan sun 10 minutes from foxwoods http://www.mohegansun.com/gateway/index.html

These casino's are 45 minutes from the convention hotel. Even if your under 21 years old you can still have a blast at the casino. They have so many things going on for all ages. August 6th http://www.mohegansun.com/entertainment/arena.html?page=3& Don Rickles is going to be in the arena, tickets are $30.
Foxwoods on August 6th has : http://www.foxwoods.com/FoxTheater.aspx?monthFilter=8%2f13%2f2011
Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas: Starts at 8:00pm and tickets start at $45 .

Thats a just in case schedule. It'll be a great time Rain or Shine

Sunday:

A) AUTOCROSS: Thompson speedway has an auto-x event on Sunday. For those of you interested in racing in a time trail fashion and having fun for an affordable rate this is it!! Below is an email from the organizer of this event stating the rules of auto-x
Email:
Check out our web site for all the details. Connecticut Autocross & Rally Team
Basically show up at 8:00am and take everything out of your cars (everything).
The battery must be secured (no bungie cords), brakes working, all lug nuts there, etc. approved helmet (See site, no loaners) drivers license if 18 or 19 years old (no one under 18), Look for our timing trailer and a line of people. you will have to get a number (table at rear of trailer), then register at trailer and pay fee, get work assignment. Then take cars to the tech line to be checked out (make sure everything is removed, floor mats, debris, everything).
You will have to attend a novice walk through and meeting (about 10am but will be announced). If you have any questions please view our site or e-mail me.

Thanks, Bob Doiron

CART
B) Meet/Picnic:
The auto-x will be completed around 1pm and we are going to be hosting a meet/picnic at Hubbard Park in Meriden CT(which has hosted many g20.net NE picnics) after 1pm. This will be where we eat/bs/eat some more. We have a sectioned pavilion for us. Whenever everyone decides to get on the road from here then that will conclude the events from the weekend.

That should explain everything you will need to know. Any questions can be relayed to marksr20ser@yahoo.com or Jimithin7000@hotmail.com or hpynole@gmail.com If you will be attending please email one of us above so we can have a list of people and there interests so accommodating you can be made easier.

A short history lesson to ease the fears for those of you that don’t know about us:

Sr20deep has been hosting meets for over 10 years and we have anywhere from 50-100+ sr20 powered cars at these events. Some of the people are not involved on the forum which will make it even better for meeting new people with the same interests. This will be also be a great opportunity to put faces on those forum names you talk with on a constant basis. Last but not least we have tried to accommodate the same dates as the Nissan/infiniti convention due to members that were going to attend the cancelled convention that already took time off of work and made arrangements to come. We are located 2-1/2 hours north from where the convention was going to be held. I hope this does not make a difference in your plans. Not only that we have Happynole supervising and coordinating (and you’ve all seen the 09 convention’s success!).

SR2011...........The Revival
Join us and we all look forward to seeing you Aug 5.

".....Have you ever been lonely? Do you have any fun?....."

Just another reason for everyone to head east and join us. You know who I'm talking to.

And Mark is so excited he posted the wrong hotel info. I'm updating the original post in a sec but it will be the 4 Points Sheraton and it will be set up for you to book rooms starting Monday. Secret codes and specific rates will be posted later this weekend once I get the package from Stacey (Sales Manager). Trust me, per my phone conversation this morning everyone will be satisfied with the accommodations.

Joe
