I would like to know how to modify the distributor cap to accept an external coil as well, thanks for the link though.

Seriously, no one uses an external coil with a B14 distributor?

Might I suggest buying a used B13 distributor?

I'm familiar with the B14 distributor, as I use one with my COP. If it were possible to cut off the protruding high tension stack, and then put a B13 distributor cap on you'd basically be in business, but the problem I think you'll run into is that the B13 cap is slightly larger in diameter and won't bolt on. I could be wrong though, and it's worth a try.

I would but then I'd also have to wire in a power transistor which is built into the B14 distributor. Good suggestion though.

Well, I have a B13 distributor laying around, and a B14 one on my car. I guess I could sort of test fit them and see if it might work.

You're right about the power transistor if you go with the B13 distributor, but that might not be a big deal. I bought 3 used recently for $20 a piece and I know Andreas Miko has some he wanted to sell for cheap.

Would the harness connectors be different between the b13 and b14 models? Not the 2 pin for the coil but the larger of the 2 connectors.

Yes, the harness connections between the distributors are different. The B13 distributor has wires for the CAS and that's it I think. The B14 has wires for the CAS and the internal coil (which I assumed SENTRASER would be swapping around anyway).

This is in addition to the difference in high tension leads.

SR20Gtir (Jamie) ran an external coil on his B14 dizzy. He had to modify the cap in order to do it.

He had so many problems with the MSD external box that he just ripped it out and went to a B13 dizzy on his B14, and hasn't had any problems since.
