Need help resolving 50% VVL activation/lift issues
I have been running a Greddy MSS with Nemu RT to activate my cams for the past few years. I started noticing that my cams were not activating 50% of the time. This is the chronological order of task I've done to try and resolve this issue.

1. Cleaned checked all connections associated with the vvl
2. Assure that each connector had a constant 12v terminal - Check ok
3. Removed both solenoids to manually activate- Both clicked numerous times just fine
4. Ditched the Greddy MSS and ran it straight to NEMU's outputs (EGR and AIV)
5. Conducted a continuity test from ecu EGR and AIV wire to solenoid connector - Check Ok

The vvl was activating just fine until I noticed again that its activating 50% of the time again. I am blown out of my mind. Ive been driving this car for nearly 17+yrs and everyday was a thrill to drive till recently. Can you please assist me on what other issues I can look into? I truly appreciate all your help and support.

Low oil pressure caused this issue for me.

Low oil pressure from what exactly? I've been wondering about the cam caps wearing out on these heads for a while. I've been rocking the same VVL head since 2005 and went through multiple cam and long block setups with it. Can the cam caps wear out causing oil pressure to reduce due to excess clearance between the cam cap and cam journals? Can the caps be resurfaced and the head line bored? Does anyone have the correct clearance specs available or has anyone had this done before?

Thanks Dala- Ill be upgrading to SA today. Im not sure how that will solve that issue. I'm getting the same issue when I was running the greddy mss. Regardless I will upgrade.

TheSam- how did you cure the low oil pressure issue?

do you have a relay connected to the circuits? you could be experiencing a voltage drop, or low oil pressure as was said.

I had some what of the same issue before. But my vvl would kick in and out also running an MS but on Nistune. Ended up being a ground that was not making contact for the vvl.

I found the issue. I had an old fog light constant wire running along the vvl wires from the engine to interior. It was interfering with the vvl ground signals. This was more of a ground issue. I removed the old fog light wire and now the vvl is back full time. Thanks!
