if your already using a sr20ve distributor someone has done some rewiring (assuming not you or you would have known this) so IF you do want to change distributors a ve one would be a direct swap. Now if your using a DE distributor (guessing you didnt do the build or you would already know what your using) then you will want to replace it with the same type to avoid any wiring. all you do is cut the bottom ear off, if your already using a de dist just copy what was done to it to the new one.

with that said, i'd change the maf before going any further.

I'd bet MAF as well. Normally I'd check compression but you said it ran fine for awhile so that's not likely a problem.

I hate MAFs.

Yeah i think it's a VE distributor and in fact i didn't do the swap myself, i bought the car with the swap in it.

Alright i'll start with the MAF and will let you guys know!!

Correct, N60 is 89-94. I once used an E60 maf with my N60 program. I just wired in the different pigtail and the car ran good. I did this so I could get the car to my tuner and he dialed everything in. Your results might vary so aim for the N60 maf.

Yeah i'm calling my buddy at the scrapyard and he might have a 1992 maxima, i have to call him back this afternoon.

I got a N62 (300zx) maf too, i think it's the same plug, but i wanted to get my car re-tuned for it before as i know it's not the same.

It won't work i guess with the tuning i got.

i would go to do some tuning and dyno run with a guy i know but i'm a little bit short on $ so i'll get a maf instead for the moment!

Btw one of my pal said that i should make 3 oil (with cheap oil and filters as well) change in a week to get rid of the water in the engine if there's any.

What do you think?

What's the best way to get the water out of the engine?

I wouldn't go crazy. If it was a 'small water hole', I can't imagine that much water getting sucked in. Now, if the whole filter was submerged, I think you will have more problems than a maf.

r u sure ur not on the knock maps? check the knock sensor

a way to check is
shut off the car after it appears, wait like 20-30 seconds
restart does it go away and come back after a few mins? likely its knock sensor

Where is the knock sensor located on the motor? Can you tell me please?
