VE head on DE block 10:1 pistons?
which would be the compresion ratio?
it's safe on sr16 cams or just with the stock VE cams?

i dont think that will clear. 10.1 is kinda pushing it with no valve reliefs. if u get away with it, will have to be stock cams for sure.

going to have to get valve reliefs machined on the pistons, and ur still cutting it close.

Its been done on a local turbo car. SR16 cams were the limit. Didn't rev it past 8K either. I wouldn't personally do it if I was starting from scratch.

Well comresion would be about 11.3 to 1. There is a company in PR that will do the valve notches for $100

Dont do it without valve notches

This, I was going to stick a VE head on my AWD DE just for abit of fun while the vet was being built.

Till i found out that the pistons will make contact with the valves even with SR20VE cams haha.

Hey man, how exactly did you find this out?
I am wanting to attempt this and thinking twice now after seeing this thread. This morning I put 9.5, 20VE and flat top pistons side-by-side and I cannot for the life of me see what the 9.5 pistons have over the flat-tops in terms of PTV clearance.

Not sure if there is a definitive answer on this as I discovered from searching that some say the valves will touch and others not.

if u look u will see the sr20ve pistons at the top reliefs reach far into the outer rim of the piston.... so even with the 9.5:1 pistons as seen in the last pic the reliefs r needed as it will touch one hi cams engage.... so with a flat 10:1 piston its obvious thats work is needed
