DE block + SR16 pistons and head = CR?
My friend is building a car for another dude. It's a DE block with SR16 pistons and either a SR16 or SR20VE head I'm not fully sure I assume its a 16 head because the pistons and the blue VC. So what CR is he running DE with 16 pistons is like in the 11s right? but VE with 16 pistons is in the 13s (grenade lol)? Thanks guys.

IIRC there are some extensive threads on this

Everyone I read discussed the DE or the VE not a DE/VE hybrid with SR16 pistons.

Why would the block matter for compression?

It would yield the same as a VE block with SR16 pistons.

i built a de/ve hybrid before, its the same effective c/r as putting 16ve pistons in a full sr20ve seeing as the blocks have the same deck height, it's only the ve combustion chamber that changes anything.

hence the de/ve hybrid yields the same c/r as a full ve engine, which for a 16ve piston i'm sure has been mentioned many times as something like 13.2-13.5:1, or more recently as possibly lower towards 12.5:1

I'd say a definitive answer would only be reached if calculated properly using your personal ve combustion chamber measurement after it's been faced/skimmed, and same for block etc.

the de block DOES NOT bring the 16ve piston c/r down to the 11s, to all extents and purposes the blocks are the same

That's what I figured, I just wanted to be sure.

Also the SR20VE and SR16VE heads are the same.

IIRC this setup with only allow you to run 20VE cams or at least that is what I have read about hybrids DE/VE

Thats if he is running DE pistons.

He is running SR16's.

Even with DE pistons you can run SR16 cams just fine.
