The only other thing i can think of is if he has an Autech N15 Pulsar. They use the earlier style casing (no top mount holes and no fins) and they are 4.375 FD VLSD.

Yes correct with the autech box, i was hoping mine was going to get the finned case, but it didnt. Mine is a 96 model, and even 97 model autechs dont have the finned case.

Guys we were talking about SR16VE gear boxes. The conversation had nothing to do with Autech gear boxes.

The gear box he suposedly got was stated as coming from a 98 SR16VE VZR. All the N15 VZRs came with the finned cable box.

VZRs started in 9/97 this makes the car a 98 model.

Cars from 8/97 back come with the standard gear box. 8/97 and back are 97 models

He also stated the the gear box he got had the crank angle sensor in it. This feature is only a USDM feature.

Yep, but they dont have the crank position sensor in them. Again its a USA 95-97 SER gear box.

since we are on discussions about trans... anyone can take a wild guess on what this might be off of? It doesnt have the big hump for lsd but has the fins and cable???

it probably is an se-r box in which case the guy is obviously trying to rip nizmo off

however

if it was advertised as a VZR box it could have come from a B15 sunny vzr in which case it would be a 50 series box. it pays to know all the facts before ripping into someone; in this case the guy selling the tranny.

in any case the guy in question seems quite good if hes willing to refund if the ratios are different.

As Dre said only USA cars comes with the sensor so cant br from b15 VZ-R.

Drove the car didnt find much difference in the ratios. However it was popping out of 5th (a major probs with SE-R trannies).

un-installed it and will be getting another sr20 lsd. Will post pics.

Peace

Why are you still going on with this. The box is not a 50 series box. He already gave me all the facts.

1. This gear box is cable, a 50 series box is hydralic.

2. The 50 series box can not be converted to cable like the standard Hydralic box can.

3. The 50 Series box has the tranny mount on top only where the early box has the mount on the side and in the case of the N15 box both places.

4. Most important the 50 series box does not have the crank position sensor on the front as this box had it which was clearly stated and clearly makes it as a USDM box which only comes that way.

5. If I am correct the 50 series box has the bigger clutch spline.

6. 50 series gearbox parts are not interchangable into an SER box. 50 series box parts go into our 92-98 Altima 5speed and 91-99 Maxima
