SR20 Turbo 02 Housing R&D
*Update, 07/11/11*
- I just listed the stock location Bluebird/Avenir and GTiR 02 housings/j-pipes on our online store. We are now taking orders through the site. These are currently made to order and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

The FWD SR20 turbo o2 housing is a possible new product under development! Additional images and info will be posted in this thread and on our site whenever there is an update.

FWD SR20 Turbo 02 Housing

Here's what we have on the drawing board:
  • Compatible with all the OEM cast manifolds
  • High flow, min. restrictions, and smooth transistions
  • Vband or slip fit connections for a gasket free easy install
  • Stainless steel 2.5 or 3.0 in. dia. tubing
  • A/C and Non A/C compatible designs
  • Recirculated and open dump tube designs

We should have a good $ estimate when the prototypes start taking shape.

Here is what we are starting off with. The factory exhaust component packaging is extremely compact!

Feel free to post any comments or questions.

So, as part of this, would you offer a 3" downpipe that matches up, or are you planning on having this mate with one DP type or the other? (VERY interested by the way)

Cant wait to see these come out, VBAND Option is nice but I would think for a " Big Seller "
this would have to be a direct replacement esp for people like me who just bought a new
downpipe this week.

If this part can be a direct replacement piece its going to sell like mad.

If it would help cost I would consider steel instead of stainless. Let customers coat them if desired.

are you planning on making a little divorce adapter thing to go inbetween the wastgate and wheel opeining to seperate the 2?

I would think to maximize on returns there would be 4 models.

  • Avenir / Bluebird
  • GTiR

Then from those 2 models either Divorced or re=-routed.

And then maybe a choice of stainless or steel.

Once people start requesting custom peices and one off the audience gets smaller and the price
gets greater due to custom work and different jigs I would assume.

That's the plan. It looks like we are going to make the avenir/bluebird housing for now, then move onto the GTI-R housing, and then down pipe design. I need to get a GTI-R setup on the mock up motor and figure out what can be done to make this more universal. It may be as simple as including an removable adapter piece or something like that.

Good point. Direct replacements are first on the to do list since most users probably already have a down pipe setup.

Another good point....options most likely will be mild steel and 304L stainless steel. 321 is another option, but $ goes up quickly.

I have researched a few on the market and I am not sure if these adapters completely seal off the turbine flow from the wg flow. This isn't a big deal on a recirculated design...but would probably sound like an exhaust leak on a divorced/open dump tube design.

We have also considered modifying the turbine housing itself by welding an adapter between the flapper/turbine outlet and then surfacing it. This would definitely separate the two...it would take a little more time/$ though...as it would require the customer to send in the turbine housing.

What about A/C compatibility? Is this a high priority..that would be another option Custom pieces should not be difficult. The jig/fixture will be a empty motor on a stand attached with whatever accessories are needed to check clearance. Housing and down pipe flange locations will be referenced from points on the motor.

Speaking of A/C, does any one have an A/C compressor w/lines they would like to donate for mock up? My b13 never had A/C and my old b14 compressor core is mia.
