Thread: Aem twinfirea

So I bought and hooked up an aem 8 channel twinfire along with cbr coils and stinger standalone but can't get it running..car was already running with the stinger unit and ve dizzy so I know its not the ecu...It is pretty straight forward to wire in the twinfire itself that's why i am somewhat puzzled as to why the car won't run...We also checked it for spark by grounding the plug and trigger wire so the coils seem to be working. ...if there is anything else I should be checking for please let me know....thanks

Does the stinger need a module to drive the coils between the CDI and Coil?

I know when running the older AEM EMS and CDI you need a 4 channel module. I run the Haltech with a AEM CDI and I don't need a module. Also since you're running direct fire did you set the ignition setup to match? You might want to ask Stinger what you need to change in the setup for Direct Fire

We have the stinger unit setup to trigger 4 coils right now....it can be programmed to run 1, 2 or 4...the unit we have is an AEM CDI 8 channel so I don't think we need a module...we are going to check and make sure the firing order is correct as we are getting a kick every now and then. Do you know what positions the three switches should be in?

I have the 4 channel and all 3 of mines are set on the on position. In reference to the module all EMS have coil drivers but some still need modules to run direct fire

Ok cool I will set all the switches in the on position and give it a try....I am getting spark when I test them so I am convinced the coils are firing....someting is just not happening

Stinger (Same as rob).
