Auto VE Tune P11, OBD1 Stepdown?
Here's the short story:

DE blows up, I buy a VE. End of short story. Now nxSRg20 (Chris) and I are preparing to swap the VE over to my P11. My P11 is an automatic. Before anyone jumps to conclusions we are trying something unique here. We want to change the shift points of the auto tranny but we aren't sure if the stepdown to OBD1 will take over the TCM functioning within the ECU after. Maybe we should not use a step down and i should have the 16-bit obd2 tuned? Do I even need to step down since I have a 99' ECU which is 16-bit obd2, can't the emissions be tuned on the 16-bit? I'm just confused as to how odb1 autos work because those sensors don't exist since obd2 started to use the TCM controllers to control the trans functions rather than mechanically. Also we need to remove emissions component completely since this is a VE swap. I need to be able to run my VE with no EGR etc. alongside my automatic.

Secondly, we were wondering how to change the shift points, would we go through the TCM or would we need to go through the ECU?
We don't know exactly how this would work out. Any input is appreciated, we have an interesting idea regarding VVL and the auto transmission we just need some advice as to how to make it come together.

Forgive me if I made a mistake or an error, I don't know much regarding the auto transmission functions since its rare for anyone to actually keep them in the car lol.

If you want to run OBD1 you can. 93-94 B13 Sentra ran OBD1 with the RE4F03V Automatic Transmission. The 93+ P10 G20 also ran the RE4F03V & RE4F03A Automatic Transmission. The Erepresenting Electronically controlled. IIRC 93-1/2 is when Nissan went to a separate external TCM/TCU (Transmission Control Module/Transmission Control Unit).

There are a few (3 people that I know of, 1 including myself) that went through Level 10 to have there A/T "built". At one time Level 10 did offer a shift point controller. You would have to check with them or JWT to see if they have any options for you on that.

Just be aware that the A/T does NOT nor will it ever be physically able to hold power for crap as I blew up a Level 10 box myself in the low 200 whp range.

I also put a list together for you of which A/T is in which vehicle. http://www.sr20-forum.com/information-library/68770-transaxle-assy-automatic-automatic-transmission-part-numbers-model-series.html#post918762

EDIT: WOW CHRIS! Didn't even realize it was you lol I'm never on here, but it's me Tyler, lol Christian and I have this crazy build idea I knew you would have a few resources.

Yes I know the risks of the auto trans, I will not be beating on the transmission to quote "crack vvl" I just would like a nice bottom end and a smooth high cam transition. I know 170-180hp isn't going to shred the transmission the shards if I drive it with respect. As with anything if it is beat on you're going to break some shit lol

Thank you for the list you don't know how valuable that is to me! I didn't know that some obd1 sr's came with electronic autos, this is great news lol... literally shat my pants reading that.
