Running 2 MAFs on the same harness for different ECUs
So I think many people might jump into this thread thinking, that title is dumb why would someone post a thread like this.

Hear me out.

I have a JWT tuned ECU I will be running on my daily turbo setup. My car will be set up with 370s @ 4 bar, and a z32 MAF. Boost will max at about 7 psi (for now).

So my question is more directed with switching from my chipped JWT ECU, back to a stock 96 G20 ECU, stock injectors, and stock MAF.

If I have both MAF connectors (sr20de maf connector and z32 maf connector) spliced into the same power, signal, and ground wires, should I expect any issues if I just have 1 maf connected at a time? I'm not trying to over complicate things, I just want to have stock components ready to swap over when I get called into the next state of IL required emissions test.

The car will always run with 1 maf, but splicing in both connectors should allow me to switch back and forth from different MAFs right?

I guess my question is more directed to someone who has tried something like this before, any strange out of the ordinary MAF voltage readings from doing something like this?

Yes you can do this with no issues! actualy some people do this so they can go back to stock for emissions testing etc.....

It is weird electronics just dont work that way... if you have both MAFs conected, both will send diferente readings and will be a mess... also... the stock maf will be a bottle neck for the Z32 MAF...

You have to find another way get to emissions because it does not make sense... Dont the JWT ECU come prepared for emissions?

^Not really understanding this post.

With only 1 maf being connected at a time, I see no reason another connector just hanging there wired in would be a problem. As far as I know, it would be just like any other unused connector present in the wiring harness that still gets power/signal from the ecu but doesn't do anything until it is plugged in. Just make sure its wired correctly and insulated so you dont touch a power and ground together and fry your ecu or something along those lines.

I get what you are saying, but I will just have one MAF connected to the harness at a time. I had issues with them giving me a hard time about my z33 before, and when they looked under the hood, to their surprise, the car looked mostly stock.

So as long as only one MAF is connected (the one for the correct ECU) I should be ok.

The JWT does allow you to use your emissions accessories. However mine will be bypassed with a non functional egr installed and 68k ohm resistor. The car should be able to easily get past a visual, even if the emissions standards become more strict.

Thanks, I was just worried about extra wire being soldered to the MAF harness causing irregular voltage readings. Everything will be soldered and heat shrink wrapped.

I appreciate everyone's comments.

Why not put a connector inline between your MAF & the harness?

Ohhh i understand... in that case then you should have no issues for having the conectors just hanging there...

I was hoping this question was geared more towards running two mafs in order to read more air... using two 300whp mafs in unison in order to safety meter 600whp. I've always wondered how you could or if you could with one of our socketed oem ECUs...
