JWT, Precision 5858, help me make some power!
Hey guys, I decided to post here for help with my setup. I own a 240sx but most of the forums I belong to are full of drifters and it just isn't my thing. I'm a weekend warrior at the local drag strip and you fwd folks seems to enjoy it more than most of the 240sx owners.

I'll give a little info on my setup. I have a redtop sr, forged and balanced rotating assembly, and a factory untouched head. I will install cams soon and I'm debating on JWT C series or a set of HKS 272's.

I have a Hybrid Dynamics top mount manifold and a Precision billet 5858 t3 turbo. I got a ridiculous deal on MSD 96lb injectors, a Ford Lightning MAF, and a JWT ecu tuned for the setup.

I'm really just trying to get some information on turning the boost up. I've had a talk with Ben at JWT and Codyace over on Zilvia and they think the setup is good for 475whp on pump gas. I'm still a little scared on just "listening" for knock.

Anyone working with a similar setup? Any tips on anything or what to look out for? I just want to feel more comfortable before cranking the wick on my new investment. Thanks in advance.

I know somebody has a ROM tune with a t3 sized turbo..
I'm just looking to see what boost and power level is safe.

Jwt tunes are very safe. they will not make the most power since they need to be kinda generic. I would look into a stand alone or tunable ecu. What boost level is safe depends on the setup. 18-20psi is safe on pump gas with a larger turbo. I would upgrade the cams from stock. Might as well put springs and retainers in as well since the stock valve train likes to throw rocker arms off.

Yea I understand they're not the best but I'm a student so I work with the money I have to spare. Just curious of power output, limits, and things to watch out for.

I plan on using Nistune or Power FC eventually.

Cams will be upgraded with springs. I'm shooting for 20psi as long as my vitals look good.

with some cams and a jwt tune you will be fine in the 18-20psi area. Since you have a rwd sr20det I would also pick up a knock off intake since they are so cheap. You can pick up another 30whp for just the intake. Since precision does not ever show compressor maps its hard to say what it will make and at what psi.

I would be happy with 450. I just want to have fun before i go all out on ethanol. I'm going to call JWT and see if I can give them a serial # or something to confirm my ecu tune. I'm not sure what octane it is for..

Any ideas on how I can log some dyno runs for JWT so they can refine my tune? Any software or anything that can do that with a factory ecu?

there is a code on the ecu and on the inside on rom.

Nissan data scan allows you to log the factory ecu. You can also get the run file from the dyno. These would help in retuning. I would not waste my money on that. I move right on to nistune or a full stand alone. I am currently using a aem ems in my car but have run several jwt ecus and other tuned ecu's. The stand alone will get you the most out of your setup.

Definitely agree with what Cotrim1 says. With a skilled tuner you will be able to extract more power in almost every rpm over the JWT. You will also have a little better knock control as well.
