What about us GTIR guys?

Also would there be any advantage to running both a MAF and a MAP sensor? I like the fact that the MAF is technically more accurate because it determines the mass flow of air rather than trying to calculate the mass flow by the temp and pressure. MAF therefore adapts easier to changing conditions would it not? However MAP seems like it's way easier to tune, as it gives you a direct way of determining load on the engine.

why not combine these two systems for a best of both worlds?

GTiR guys can use an SR20DE ECU and add a wire to pin 8 for the IAT sensor.

The whole idea of the conversion to MAP sensor is to do away with the MAF sensor, plus there are not enough analog inputs to run both. I'll leave the MAF vs. MAP discussion to the myriad other threads on the subject.

fair enough for the map/maf debate.

However, a SR20DE ECU has an inferior injector driver does it not? Plus requiring the use of resistors for the injectors.

To my knowledge, I believe the injector drivers are the same. Can anyone confirm this?

They are the same. The issues is the style of injector. He is refering to the fact that the GTIR uses low impedence injectors and requires resistors to be driven rather than native driver support. Same with trying to use aftermarket low impedence injectors.

The injector resistors are external to the ECU, so there should be no problem there right?

Correct. I think the "inferior injector driver" comment is in regards to the ecu not natively supporting the low impedence injectors.

I thought that there was a difference in the injector drivers, if you guys are telling me that it will be exactly the same if i just use external resistors then in that case I'll be using a s13 SR20DET ECU with injector resistors and get the advantage of COP.

I remember Calum telling me something about the Injector drivers though.

I believe that GTIR ecu used peak and hold injector drivers that work "properly" with that style of injector resulting in better injector pulses. Saturated injector drivers will never run low impedance injectors that way even if you add resistors.

I don't know enough about the injector drives to say for sure, and have never tried it myself, but certainly welcome an investigation/test to find out.
