Pete, the $60 ebay is the cable only. Your right, sorry. the Datascan software is $45 from blazt and I don't need the cable (maybe).

the free one, you can't do much at all. i have it and been playing with it all day today.

ok. i was just downloading all of those free programs. i currently have calum's program and the free version of "conzult"

calum: looks good, cant figure out how to get the program to put car in timing mode, idle mode, do active tests with coolant to turn on rad fans, yadda yadda. however the gauge setup is really nice and easy to read.

conzult: cant do **** with it other than really really basic stuff..........the full version looks 100% dead on with the nissan consult scanner i use every day tho and it would be awsome to have since i am factory trained to use that tool. full program in $400+

TECU: http://eccs.hybridka.com/viewtopic.php?t=263 cant figure out how to download

OBD ScanTech Nissan: http://obdscantech.cjb.net/ downloading know.

my opinions are based on looks alone as i do not have my lap top or cable yet..........im just seeing the options avalible on the programs cluttering up my old crappy desktop. then ill download the 1 or 2 programs i like best.

for the timing mode, idle mode and stuff, I think you need the Datascan. also look unto the Ecutalk, it works on the laptop too. has like 15 gauges and a neat little dataloger and it read/clear codes.

I'm getting the Datascan software from blazt soon. I might as well keep the ECUdatscan, since I won't get anything near what I paid for it.

Calumsult. Nissan Datascan works okay, but isn't always as accurate. (At least for me, it was garbage)

Here is a good source on DataScan's functions:

http://220.253.116.194/

I particularly value the Map Trace function which shows you the fuel or timing map cell you are reading from while you are driving (for tuning).

Version 1.52 allows for free use of Live Register Test, ECU Find and Dashboard functions for unregistered users. New users can test their Consult adaptor before activating the NDS software.

You can also buy it here:

or here

Pete -

Datascan is a $30 program you can purchase. If you don't purchase it, you don't get full functionality. You can still use it to verify that it works with your ECU, though.

EDIT: Nevermind, wasn't even paying attention when I typed the response. ^ Answered it first. :o
