Default Need help with my suspension setup choice

OK so I've never gotten into suspension much, but I'm getting to the point where I have too much power and need to find a better way to get it on the ground, and I'm looking for suggestions. First off, I have a B13 SE-R.

I want to build my suspension so that it works mainly for drag racing. At this point, I have enough power to where if I start at an idling roll and punch it, I can't get past 3,000 RPM @ WOT without the tires breaking loose. Currently operating on stock rims and stock suspension. Also, for some reason I have not ever had a problem with wheel hop - they just spin.

I want to be able to change the height for winter driving in Minnesota snow because it's my daily driver, and I want to be able to change the stiffness for when I'm cruising on a road trip or with ladies.

Also, as far as the rims/tires go, I'm also looking for suggestions. I definitely want something designed specifically to be light weight.

Thanks in advance, guys!
Rick

Have you read The Suspension Thread? Pretty much everything you need to know for most applications.

Great specific question. Drag racing huh? I don't know. But I am interested in the answer.

What is your budget? My knee-jerk reaction is externally adjustable CSK's with GC coilover sleeves and Eibach (race) springs. However, that externally adjustable CSK part is pretty expensive.

Your height adjustability requirement has already eliminated all standard spring/strut combos. Which is good.

You really just need to figure out which coilover system would be best.

Will you be running two sets of wheels/tires? One for drag racing and a seperate set for street use?

Budget is irrelevant - if I don't have the money now, I'll save until I have enough for what I want to do. I'll look into those brands...

No, I intend to run the same rims all the time, but I'll be keeping my stockies around for winter driving.

Thanks for the input!

B13, B14, B15 Suspension Information...

However, I still don't know what would be ideal for drag racing applications. Nor is that particular answer in there.

Although if you are contemplating changing your suspension, that would be a good place to start.

We already know that you have to look at coilovers. So that narrows it down quite a bit.

I got my Progress Coilover set up for Drag. the rear do not dip at all, all the power stays at the front wheel. it's 300lbs up front and 650lbs in the rear, and it rides way better than the Ksport and Hyprco Gen1 AGX.

the Suspension thread do not cover Suspension for Drag.

I haven't raced with it yet. I will soon and will report.

Cool - is it as your daily driver, too? How smooth is the ride?

Thanks!

I have no knowledge of a drag setup, but I have had 3 different suspension setups, and I highly suggest you go ahead and spend the money and do it right once. Whatever setup you go with, make sure it is quality and highly recommended by our suspension Guru's!!!

Is that for a B13? What part number did you purchase? The only ones I can find list 350 lbs in the front and 250 lbs in the back as shown here: http://progressauto.com/store/produc...roducts_id=474
