Thread: 2011 Convention Caravan thread

I know it's a way off but I need to start planning now. I have my job, my business and Grad school (yeah, my wife too) to contend with. Needless to say, I'm looking very forward to this convention!
So what are we all thinking? I'd love to all drive up at the same time.

Usually the atlanta and south guys meet me in Nashville then we go from there.

It makes more sense to meet up somewhere East of Nashville for anyone coming out of Georgia or Florida

I was going to hold off on this till after the holidays, but I'll pull up a route and suggest some break/meeting points. More to follow.

AAA shows me an 803 mile trip at 12 hours and 40 minutes.

From Atlanta north on I-85 passing through Charlotte, NC and then going north on I-95 passing through Richmond, VA on the way to Millville, NJ. From Atlanta it is about 4 hours to Charlotte and then another 4 hours to Richmond, so it makes sense to start looking for meeting locations in those areas. Time wise it makes sense to plan on meeting in the Charlotte area for breakfast and the Richmond area for lunch.

I know that I would like to be at the hotel between 5 and 6 on Thursday. Back tracking from there we would need to leave Richmond by 1 pm. We arrive in Richmond approx 11 am and get lunch. Need to roll out of Charlotte by 7 am. Arrive in Charlotte at 6 am and get some breakfast. Rolling out of the ATL at 2 am.

Please jump in with suggested meeting locations for the peeps west of Atlanta to join us.

well from lookin at a map it would probably be easier for us alabama and tenn guys to meet up in atlanta around 2 am or so.

I'm thinking that there should be two Caravans (or more) starting out. One for the costal crew and one for the inland crew. Then we all meet up somewhere on 95 (Richmond was mentioned in Joe's post). Then we all go from there up to NJ. Opportunities to do something like this don't come around too often so we should try and make this work the best we can.
