Congrats Ben. I did not realize that property prices were so much higher in Columbia.

Depends on where in NY. Nassau County, NYC no. But upstate or out East on LI... yes. I've been looking at houses to buy as a rental unit close to where my sister lives in Rocky Point, NY.
Here is one for example: (undisclosed Address), Rocky Point, NY 11778 MLS# 2299353 - Zillow

Ben - congrats on the house!

Can I ask why you are getting a 90-10 loan?? With your credit why did you make it where you have 2 loans?? Did you not have enough for a down payment? That is no way to start a home loan. You should wait and put down a nice down payment or get a 100% loan.

We didn't get two loans. Sorry for the confusion. We put down 10% on the house, and loaned 90%. We tried to put down 10% and get another 10% loan to put down 20% total and avoid PMI on the 80% loan but it didn't work out.
