Would you put 17 " rims on you DD
Hey fellas...I recently had a an offer of purchasing a set of 17" MB Seven X for 250 bucks.

I thought it was a good deal, but I was little apprehensive on the 17" on my SE. I sold him my 200sx SER, he had 17 on them, I test drove it. I surely hug and felt more rigid.

I just worried about the poor gas and slow down the car. BTW, its my DD and picking up my daughter, no FAST N Furious racing.

NOPE!

You'll loose power and gas mileage from the added weight and rotational mass.

Plus you will be noticed more by the popo.

The reason it felt more rigid was due to the smaller sidewall on the tire.

vadim, the stock B14 wheels are heavy as hell. Almost 20lbs each. If the 17s are lighter I say go for them. One of my friends has some 17' racing harts and those weigh about 13 lbs.

its up to you blkbrd, its a daily driver so I would be concerned with mpg. If the wheels weigh less than 19 lbs each I say go for it, since you will be upgrading from the b14 wheels.

I wouldn't do it on a car that size.

Frankly, I did pick up one of these wheels...they look big, however, due to the spokes, it appeared light.

Yes, Vex...the stock B14 wheels are heavy. I just have been put off upgrading the rims.
I think 16 like DR-31 has is perfect..I think one of the other guy with the Blue SE-L has them. Not Vadim though.

I wonder if anyone has these 17s has some opinion. I can;t find any pics with 17s on this forum..lol.

i did on my b15....but that doesn't count i dont notice any less/more gas mileage going from 205/55/16s on my 16x7 polished rotas to 215/45/17 on my 17x7 magline brigs. both wheels weight about the same. rota slips 16x7 = 13.4ish---17x7 brig magline 8s = 13.4 ish.

although it kills my 1/2 time by about a whole second +/-. i still trap the same speed. its still 100% better than the stock wheels.

I think the tires are 205 or215 -40/17. I tried to look at Discount tires, but no info on the weight
