B15 question
Is it common for B15 SE's to have sun damaged clearcoat? The reason I ask is I just returned from looking at an SE that was for sale and the clear on the roof and part of the hood was burnt up in spots. Of course, the seller didn't disclose the paint issue in the ad. By the way, the color was Granite. Any suggestions in repairing burnt clearcoat? I'm thinkin' I still may lowball the car.

Yes its very common. I would bring it to a body shop and have them wetsand it etc. Put a new clear coat on. Nice color BTW

I've had my '00 SE since April of 2000 and my clearcoat is fine. I don't know if I would go so far to say it is a common problem on the B15. IMO, it may be common that the average Sentra owner would neglect their paint, but not common as far as bad paint.

i dunno, i was part of a class action lawsuit for the earlier b15 models with crappy paint. it never went anywhere, so i just got my car repainted. but there are plenty of people that have paint issues that know how to take care of their paint. unfortunately i was one of them. i'm sure there are also plenty of them without issues, crapshoot i guess

That's why I said the average Sentra owner. You're not an average Sentra owner. Most other Sentras I see driving around where I'm from, you can tell they probably don't care too much about their car.

Never had an issue with paint myself. (Granite 01 SE)

My car has NEVER seen a garage, so it's sun/snow/wind/rain 24/7. Now, scratches and other stuff, we won't get into that, but paint fading, etc? I wax my car about 1 time per year, wash between 1-5x per month (depending on rainfall amounts). So, I know I don't take exceptional care of the exterior.
