Alternate headlight assemblies?
I'm looking to eventually do some sort of projector lights on my B13. I will likely be redoing the front grill slightly so precise fitment isn't required, and it is a track car anyway. I know a lot of folks have used lights from the Tsuru model, but to my knowledge there were no projector versions of this, and I'm mainly only interested in anything that shipped in the US that I might be able to find at a local salvage yard.

I came across a '95 J30 with projector lenses, but the yard wanted too much for me to buy the pair and try to make them fit at home, and the only B13 they had in the yard had a smashed front end, so I couldn't do a test fitting there. But it seemed that the opening the lights fit into would need to be enlarged somewhat.

I may end up trying to fabricate something completely custom anyway. Again, because it is a track car, the glass part of the headlights would need to be covered in tape in case of breakage, so I may likely just remove all the glass anyway and replace with Lexan or something similar cut to fit.

If anyone has had any luck swapping something from another model, I'd love to hear about it.

Forgive my ignorance but regular headlights aren't good enough for a track car? I've seen track SE-Rs usually just go the Hella route if they need more light (see Rob Krider's car)

Good enough, probably. Imagine flying down a back country road at night, and you have some idea of what racing on a track at night might be like. I'm upgrading everything else on this car, and eventually want to do something better with the headlights, just because. If I can keep the stock light positions with a better assembly, even better.

Just researching options.

Understood. Tsuru lights w/ decent bulbs are probably your best relatively inexpensive option. Even then, they still kinda suck to be honest. Unless you get the projectors similar to Shawn B's car, that is pretty much the case with these cars.
