Rough idle
Hey guys. I just picked up this 1993 SE-R with a VVL swap, it runs great other then one issue. The idle is jumping around quite a bit. I checked the basics (vacuum leaks, iac valve, etc) it's throwing codes 21 and 34.. So I'm going to change the knock sensor and see if that helps, but what can cause the code 21? Thanks

so im guessing its either a bad wire, or something is up with the ecu? i will check the wiring out and see what i can find.. thanks

assuming the grounds are good, and the knock sensor does work, the next step is to replace the connection wire from the knock sensor all the way back to the ecu. or if you really want, you could wire in a 550k ohm resistor into the wire.(delete's it)

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.. I just figured out this car has a calum ecu in it. Could that have anything to do with it?

Also we just tried connecting my buddy's ConZult up to it, and for some reason the consult port isn't working on this car..

probably has EVERYTHING to do with it. Whatever crap someone tuned into the ECU is what it is running.

this is strange. now it seems to be running fine warm, but like crap cold... still the same codes.. i'm getting a chip burner from a buddy of mine so i can see about tuning this thing correctly... still no luck with the consult port though

There is a connector above the transmission (under the intake tube). Check to see if it's clean & or secure. I believe the tune is the original Calum basic from when he first started with the ecu tuning. The timing may be a little aggressive. Also, you may want to pull the Magnacores, (old as sin), & use the stock spark plug wires.
