B13 Exhaust Hangers?????
I am at the point with my car that I am starting to replace some things that are "worn out OEM parts" with good quality "up to date" parts. So I put my B13 SE-R up on the lift at work today and noticed I have some exhaust system play.

I have an HKS sport exhaust and I reused the stock hangers back in 2005. The exhaust has been on the car for 6 years now, and i have been told from friends that my exhaust moves like crazy when I shift the car hard. So I have been searching around both forums along with google and came up with some info on exhaust hangers for B13's.

What I have found in my searches:

SIZE

10mm- Tight fit, but better tight than loose
11mm- Drilled out 10mm hangers to 11mm, Not a fan of this idea.
12mm- Loose fit, a little bit of play

Compound

Rubber- Good insulator for noise and vibrations, but will dry-rot and "sag" over time.
Polyurethane- Will transfer some noise and vibrations into the car. Wont rot as fast as rubber, or rot at all? I have no long term experience with poly.

Vendors

NISMO
I know these very well. I have put these on many of my friends cars before. Very nice pieces. But the cost is a bit ridiculous at around $18-$20 a POP. And not to say that these are on backorder from NISMO and have been for a couple months. I would like these but the cost turns me away.

Kartboy- Cant find our style 10mm hangers anywhere. I "GOOGLED" to try and find some, but all I see is Subaru hangers. And all I see on the forums is old FS threads. Any info if these are even made anymore?

Torque Solution- It looks like these may work being 10mm and same type of design of the OEM hangers, I want to get others input before I buy though. How would these compare to the kartboy hangers? I have never seen what kartboy hangers look like.

I just wanted to put an organized thread about exhaust hangers out there so people can use this as a resource down the road.

Thanks, Billy.

I have the 10mm kartboy poly hangers and the same exhaust and I only have 3 hangers on from the cat. back and if I grab the muffler tip I can shake the whole car.

I vote order the 10mm hangers. They are a huge pain in the ass though to get on and I can't imagine they are any fun to take the exhaust off if you deicide to change.

I just ordered some of these to try...Circuit Sports Exhaust Hanger Bushing Kit (Set of 3)
They are blue, but thats not an issue for me.
They are harder rubber than stock, but not as hard as the poly kartboys(which just broke on my car about a week ago....all at once ,too.
I havent put these FRsports on yet but I will reply here asap they just arrived today,so I should have them on in a few days.

I got the Torque Solution hangers in the mail today. They are VERY nice pieces. I recommend these to everyone who wants a good upgrade. My exhaust is solid and has almost no movement at all. They are not that hard to get on. I have had a lot worse before. So the Link in my original post under Torque Solution hangers is the way to go.

I will post up if anything happens in the future to let people know how the durability is. I will post pics of the hangers later.

^^those look exactly like the kartboys.
It looks like I am gonna do some experimenting and maybe even mix and match.
I got the blue FRsport ones and I found a few used kartboys also.
Probably gonna try to mess with it tomorrow.

If I were to do mine all over again, I would do 12mm Kartboy hangers. They are billed as Subaru parts, but they are basically universal.

I currently have 15mm Kartboy hangers.

I am very pleased with the 3 hangers I got from them. I mounted 1 after the cat right before the 90 degree bend. And the other 2 went on the muffler. I left the 2 rubber ones on the cat and 1 rubber one on the muffler. I can feel a little vibration from the exhaust now with the poly hangers. But overall, I like them. And I just ordered 6 more for my Z.

FYI on the Kartboy hangers. They do their job well, but can fail without notice. Unlike rubber, which will gradually sag over time. Polyurethane will tear from one side to the other quick. I'm on my second set now. The first set lasted about three years (2004-2007). Don't know if color has any impact on longevity. First set was red, current is black. Black is on it's fourth year. So far so good.
