I wouldn't suspect the AIV is causing what you are describing.

MAF Sensor - clean it, reground it, check it for voltage. Search for how to do this. Other than that, are there any other symptoms/possible leads as to the root of your problem? There are three things to check - spark, fuel, and air. Did you change the wires and dizzy cap, too? Change the fuel filter?

I just cleaned the MAF and I also put a new ground on it. I changed the dis.cap and rotor too.
The spark plug wires look good and they are NGK's, I have not changed the fuel filter or the O2 sensor. I'm doing the fuel filter tomorrow. I kinda suspect a vacuum leak somewhere or maybe the MAF is not working as good as it should. I need to get a voltmeter, I don't have one to check the MAF.

First things are new plugs, wires, cap + rotor, set timing, ground maf. Now for throttle hesistation check ur knock sensor. On the stock ecu I've seen it retard timing on take off from 14-19* to 2-6*.

I know detonation can be a problem, maybe it could be, how do I check the knock sensor?
On a side note, I use 91 octane only, thats the best we got here in Cali.
It doesnt ping or knock.
