I heard the R888s like to be very hot, so not great for street use but great for the track.

I had a set.. will never buy another set.. overpriced and don't last as long and don't stick as well (not compared to other's anyway)
the R888s are the RA1 replacement but RA1 for now is still available.. I've seen some nasty wear on the R888s from fellow racers who went to them... I'll eventually be required to use them with my spec miata but until then, I'm happy with my wear like iron RA1s |

If the car is daily driven and you have to drive on the tires all the time, you would be much better off with something along the lines of a Falken Azenis or Hancook RS-2. I wouldn't reccommend driving any real R-comp on the street. |
