Thread: 225 45 15s anyone? offset? rubbing?

who has used 225 45 15 tires sucessfully on a b13?

what brand tires?

What offset are the wheels?

Did you have to roll fenders?

any issues/rubbing?

I'm going 225s soon but it's so hard to find a damn tire that I like and that will fit 15" wheels. I don't expect any rubbing at all. Might have to stick with a 50 or 55 series sidewall though.

Brand: Toyo
Model: Proxes r888
Wheel offset: 38mm (ends up being 26mm with installed 12mm spacers). Perfect offset if you ask me.
Rolled fenders: Yes, and needed.
Rubbing: 205/50/15s rub in the rear on the underside/outside of the fender with 4 passengers over giant bumps after lowering with Road Magnet springs. 225/50/15s shouldn't be too bad either. If they rub under normal driving/racing I can take off the spacers or just run this size in the front and keep rears 205 width but I don't predict any real rubbing.

Those Toyos really like to be hot though. I'd love it if the Falken Azenis tires came in a 225/xx/15 size. God damn it. I'm worried about street driving though. If you're hitting the track you've got a bunch of options. The Toyo r888s would be great, and there's some BFG and MT tires that should be fine too.

I would also love to have a 225/45 15 tires, but there are very few good ones. The Hankook ventus RS-II is available in this size, but would overheat on the track. Other R-compounds would be the toyo RA-1 and........that's it?

The Notto NT-01 are ok, i think they could do with a heat cycle before race use. This set was used on a 1.5 hr. enduro. Here are some photos.

Not sure, The FB 11.75 brake kit would not clear without a 1/4" spacer.

I always forget about [url]www.1010tires.com[/url] . They have Toyo R888 and Hankook Ventus in 225/45/15 size.

They have 11 different tires in 225/50/15. (Toyo Proxes T1R look tempting for my intended use)

i run the ra1 and R888 in 225 with a 35mm rays TE37. i have a set for sale also brand new.

I am not sure you can get away with a 225 width wheel with anything less than a +30mm offset on stock rear suspension and even that probably won't be enough. I have the bits and pieces suspension, like Andy does, which moves the rear strut inboard about 1/2 an inch just for the purpose of running 225 tires. I run 225/45/15 Hoosier R6 with 15x7 +30 offset team Dynamics pro race 1.2 wheels. With the bits and pieces set up, there is barely 3/16 of an inch of clearance between the inside of the rear tire and the strut housing. I had to roll the inner lips of the fenders to keep them from cutting into my Hoosiers. 225s are big for these cars, but it can be done. Granted the Hoosiers are probably run a bit wider in actual measurement compared to other brands. And they are definatly not street tires unless you have some serious coin to burn!
