Default Whos going to VIR in Feb

I just signed up for group 3. I will also be doing the karting and trying to do the Patriot circuitcrosses as well.. Might as well pack all the time in that I can get.

Do I have to do HPDE's before entering something like this? Or is it just open enrollment?

I might be up for this but with a Hyundai rental most likely. LOL.

Is there a chance of ice or snow around this time in VA?

Wow, awesome website, answered alot of questions for me

1. Suspension Dampers - check..Tein Super Streets
2. Engine Mounts - check..Prothanes
3. Bushings - Control Arm, Shifter Stabilizer, Anti-Sway - check..full ES set
4. Tower Bars - check..Ebay / Active Tuning
5. Brake Shield Removal - check..Fastbrakes
6. Brake Pads - check..Hawks
7. Brake Lines - check (whatever came with the Fastbrakes)

8. Tires - I was planning on switching from my boost roasted Ectsas to Azenis, might be able to do it in time

9. Pedal Covers - Sounds good. Im six feel plus and wear a size 13 shoe, and in tryig to teach myself how to do this, I became frustrated very quickly, anyone else have this problem?

10. Supplementary Restraint - Will look into this soon.

Do any instructors use mic/speaker helmets for very loud cars?

TIA

Naghebe your going to need a helmet. SA2000 or newer. Also you want to take it easy during DE1's. Your car is powerful with boost. YOu don't want to over do it especially when your new. Ummm You don't need any safety devices beyond what comes from the factory. What you really want to do is learn the track, learn the safety stations, and learn the routine of DE driving. If you push too hard you can get in a lot of trouble real quick. Your car is pretty worked for a beginner to tell you the truth. I don't want to be a downer but me being out there I"ve seen guys with fast cars over drive because they are really eager to impress, or well to go as fast as possible.

I'll give you an example. I was at CMP this summer. I had some previous track time under my belt. I was driving in DE1 was taking it easy mostly but once I got the ok to drive alone I went out there one session and just lost focus. I made a friend that day that drives a miata. The kid has karting experience and it showed he was driving very well. Well me being competitive I wanted to keep up with him. It didn't last long I pushed my Se-R more then I should have been and I spun it. Luckily nobody hit me and I didn't go off the track. It was my fault completely though because I got into race mode instead of staying in learn mode.

As for the pedal thing I also have problems heel toeing . I have a pedal cover on the brake pedal, and I'm able to reach the gas pedal. My problem is my brake pedal likes to sink below my gas pedal. Having the brake below your gas pedal pretty much kills your heel toe technique. Instructors in my experience don't even bring up heel toe during DE1. I tried using it because I've done it before and I'm just used to setting up for corners like that.
My advice is don't even worry about heel toe during your first time out. FOcus more on driving the right line and learning the track.

You didn't list any cooling mods above, You'll definitely want to take care of that on a turbo car. You'll also need to get a membership to NASA $40.

You'll definitely enjoy it though, I can tell you that with 100% certainty.

Yo Brad, let me know if you plan on going. I MIGHT be down for going down there, but I heard Summit is closer for us.

I thought about that as well. I might rent a car and use that instead since this will be my first HPDE. I don't think 360whp and what I know will be an eaver beaver attitude will work out well I also want to take in everything the instuctor says which will be hard with a full 3" exhaust (no cat, no resonator)

Ok, thats good to know, eventually I'm sure I will figure something out but for right now I just want to get some seat time and learn as much as I can.

Yeah, I forgot to include that the car will have a Koyo radiator and twin 12" fans.
