Tire width on stock 14's
I'm looking to run, if possible, 225/50/14. Local tire shop says it will barley fit the stock nx2000 14" rims. My questions is will it fit under the wheel wells? I'm currently on all stock suspension, but will be upgrading to AGX/KYB I got ahold of, with some type of stiff spring either road magnets or hyperco's. I can get a great deal locally on some Toyo RA1 225/50/14.

I wouldn't run that size on the street personally but it's not too big of a difference. Stock size is 195/55/14. Your ratio would be off which means your speedo would be off 1.8%. It would read 1.8% slow.

Oh my bad this will be for autocross. Not street driven on these wheel combos, I run on b14 wheel sets on the street.

You will have alot of tire squirm with that size and more likely to have a loose feel in steering response.

Well I'm going to bite the bullet. Worst case I'll sell the tires to a miata autox member. This will be a pretty good experiment. I will report back after my next autox heat, end of month.

its going to be a lot of chunking on those outer edges of the RA1s if you don't shave them 1st. gluck with that. Why not just buy 14x7 wheels instead to use?

Those things will look pretty funny but in my humble opinion 205-50-14 will have a stronger sidewall and make way more contact with the road since the 6 inch width of rim useless on my point of view and yes prob will make you loose some steering response how about anything 15x8+ last article i read from a well known driver mentioned in ordder for you to take advantage or the most use of a 225 tire width your rims must be 8inch or wider other than that you wont see any drastic changes

Miata autox community run a lot of this sized tire combo. But hey for 150 for all 4 tires and I have my stock nx wheels to stick them on I'm not too worried about costs, than I am more about fun of running these for the season on the cheap lol.

Side note will this wide of tire have clearance issues with the fenders and struts?

If your serious about shaving times and putting pressure on those miatas i think 205s but if your looking for other purposes or just because everybody else runs them or for looks only i undertand where your coming from, i got some road racing 205 50 15 avon tires on brand spanking new set of kosie k1's and im happy with width and nice solid sidewall im pretty sure i can prob beat or have better times than any miata running 225s any day of the week

lol not trying to pressure the Miata's, no way I'm fully stock and first year of autox. Just came across a good deal for some more fun ha.
