Being cheap can HURT
So this NX I have is eating my lunch.I have had to spend way too much on this car to this point, and now I may have to keep it or take a big loss.....typical story with these cars.lol

So since the hatch struts are so expensive ,I have been using a broomstick, like many do.

Well, the ineveitable finally happenned after all these years of owning Nxs.

The hatch fell and just about chopped me in half!
I got really lucky that I was bent over enough to sorta catch it halfway down .
Needless to say,my back hurts pretty bad, since the hatch is heavy as hell.....and I got a couple bruises and scratches too.

I did find a pair of hatch struts on ebay for 40 bucks,so I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Dont be cheap...it can hurt....for real!

Happened to me too. I cheaped out and had some weak aftermarket ones. The bolts actually sheared off and the hatch hit me on the head.

It's worth investing in OEM for this, IMO.

Man, sorry to hear that. I'm sure that got to hurt bad. My dad used to do that with his old Datsun 210 station wagon. That thing almost got me at least twice. No fun. I wish I have money to get OEM parts. For what I see the B14 does not like aftermarket parts :nightmare:

First thing people do whenever even 1 of the struts even begins to show wear, is to get a new set. The broomstick method is highly frowned upon here, for the above reasons.

That being said, could I help you with getting you a good, used set?
