Track day NX (judge my cooling set up)
Okay I am doing a track day on this monday. Last minute as I have no typical work schedule. (other wise I would have a better setup).
After lots of searching and reading I am now paranoid about overheating

I have a 1991 NX 2000
Stock Rad, I/H/E, stock tune (have calum so can put whatever in).
50/50 coolant mix with water wetter, new redline 5w40 oil.
Stock pullies (bought a stanza but the mail service place lost it!)

Not ideal I know but due to work I have been unable to get a track day in before. Temps on Mon ~68F

Installed before next time: oil cooler (I have it already but need to modify the oil filter spline to fit it. Oil and water temp gauge.

PS I also have no rock shield or whatever it is called that comes off the bumper and protects the rad etc under the car. Can this affect cooling.

End super long post (sorry I am paranoid but really want to get on the track)

thanks

What track?

You are missing the 2 most important peices (pulleys and rad). It's not a deal breaker we used to race the NX with stock stuff.

The undertray does have an effect on cooling, but also not a deal breaker.

Just keep an eye on the gauge. The OE gauge is terrible though. the old joke was that it has 4 spots. Cold, Warm, Knock it off, and BOOM.

Mission Raceway road course. small 2km track (worse for cooling I suspect as only one decent straight).
I am drving 1.5 hrs the the pick a part to see if I can find a stanza pully. A post on G20 says a pulsar NX one should work too so hopefully I will find something.

Got called to work so the junkyard trip aint gonna happen. ARgh

thanks

Also wondering about tire pressure. Did some searching. And
F35-r33/32 comes up a couple times. F38-r35 and f32-r33 are mentioned as well. Any input?

coors, ive had alot of nxs and i have one im always working on.

koyo rad, distilled water, redline coolant addiative, nismo tstat.

after this you should have no problem at all.

my old set was a 400whp det with these items in the summer it ran cooool. i also had a vented cf hood wich helped alot. but regardless the items listed should have no problem keeping a basically stock motor with bolt ons running cool all day.

stratton.

The Stanza isn't a direct bolt on just bringing that up if you didn't know. Its a direct bolt on for the VE oil pump equipped engines. I think possibly also for gti-r oil pump cars as well but I'm not 100% on that.

Yeah you need to do a bit of grinding. At this point im going to order the pulley and spacer from greg. Skysheperd from old site has told me not to be too worried as it is a very tight track and not to much time is spent above 6500rpm.

A water temp gauge would be optimal to accurately monitor temps. Also, I have a Z32 rad cap which I'm not sure yet if it will make any difference.

Ps - How was the track day? Any cooling issues?

The car looked pretty good on the track.I don't think he had any cooling issues.

Yeah the track day went well. I had no cooling issues I could ascertain however I shifter at 6500 rpm most of the time as that is were the HP falls off and the WP cavitation starts.
I also had a 300zx rad cap, UR pulleys are on the way. I also have a friend who does some serious electronics stuff for a living making me a Din display that will hook up to Oil temp and pressure and water temp sensors.

I also 'learned' that 480 UTQG all season are not optimal for the track, however they are probably the only reason my brakes did not totally cook (metal masters).

So for next time: Pulleys, have new team dynamics 15x7's with rs2 in good shape.
Will be getting HP+ pads or similar, and a new pedal to assist with heel/toe.
