Rust free my ass
I purchased a vehicle from arizona in november on the premise from the seller that the car was 100% rust free. I flew an importer friend down to bring the car back, and it went into storage after that. I pulled it out recently and look what I found when I stripped the interior. Needless to say I was a bit irate about this claimed 'rust free nx'.

this one isn't so bad

Man that sucks.I hate to see that.
Especially after all the trouble you went through to try to get one rust free.

No kidding. I really dont know what avenue I have to take with it since it was like 6 months ago, I dont know if it's unreasonable to ask for some money back from the member (he's on the forum) or if I should just leave it. I mean, there is NO way this is from 6 months of sitting in storage.

I don't think its unreasonable for you to ask for money back at all.

ouch,

We have noticed 'rusted' cars in phoenix before (one was really obvious with an 847 area code cell phone 200sx SE-R so you can't count on rust-free without seeing it all in person and a carfax can help too.

Heck, even the former 'rust free' 2001 Sentra SE we bought from phoenix spent the first 3 years in Minneapolis, MN (original owner was up-front about it to us when we bought it though) and it still was rust free with those 1st 3 years in MN but yeah.

Heck, last time we were in Phoenix we saw this rust rotted Miata FS and it had Illinois plates on it (go figure).

getting stuff long distance can really be hit or miss...

long ago I pre-paid for a car in LA (whole life in LA) yet the hatch was rusted and the guy I bought it from was long gone (he sold it to me before leaving the country and left it with a friend until I had the transport pick it up) It was lucky that I only had to buy a hatch and nothing else was rusted but I wasn't happy.

Now we go to Phoenix at least twice a year to visit (my folks have a place there) and we look at stuff in person FIRST before buying (but we tend to buy and bring back at least 1 sr20-something a year --- except this year it was a 97 Maxima we brought back -- so it was still a nissan.. lol)

We never have any problem re-selling locally in chicago when we return (haha).

So do you guys think I should msg the guy? I'm really unsure how to go about it...Here's the link to the sale

It doesn't say on the board that it's 100% rust free but he did assure me of it time and time again on the phone.

I really hope you talk to the seller, see what can be done and update feedback about that seller as you see appropriate depending on the end-result.

I'll never forget the car I won on ebay, drove 10 hours one way to pick up only to find out it was nothing like how described or even pictured and couldn't even be driven above 40mph without feeling like it would fall apart (badly bent suspension and frame making for shaking and rattling and unsafe even at 40mph --- only 10mph was SAFE)... lost over $400 and a 'weekend' but walked away from the deposit and expenses on that one and not bought a car off ebay since that experience
