N14 SSS Pulsar
Hey,

Ive got a '93 n14 SSS pulsar and its my first nissan ever owned, ive driven plenty of nissans but never actually had one for myself.

Its a sr20DE and ive been tossing up for a while as to if i should put a sr20DET into it or keep it n/a and make it a sr20VE.

What are your thoughts on this and how i should go about it,

Cheers, Aaron

Depends on your budget and your goals for the car/power.

These are my thoughts and just my opinions .

When modding a newly acquired project. The upgrades (or servicing) should be done in this order.

Brakes
Suspension
Drivetrain

That being said:

It all boils down to budget and intended use of the car.

If it's a daily driver and your only car then reliability should be paramount.
If it's a weekend racer then reliability may become a little less of a priority as max horsepower comes into play.

Sr20VE is OK if you know for sure you're not going to want "moreeeee powahhhh" later. (almost never happens we always want more).

Beyond a certain power level Boosting the SR20ve or i.e (Sr20VE+T , Sr20Det+VE head, or even Sr20DE+VE+T) is the only way to go but gets pretty expensive quickly. Aftermarket manifold etc.

In "stock" configurations drop in and go (so to speak)

The best "stock" configuration engine for power is the JDM Sr20DET
Then Sr20ve

If you're into modifying your engines then the options are endless

Even so I would still probably get a JDM sr20det and drive that first. Get used to the power and dynamics of the added power then decide where to go from there.

Boosting you NA sr20 is also an option since many guys here and other places regularly upgrade their JDM turbo motors or from JDM turbo parts and you may be able to piece together for cheap.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Unfortunately its not a one size fits all scenario. Look around the forums at some builds and see what guys have done and where they came from.

Cheers

Jazzaa you are not limited because you have a pulsar , you are only limited by you lack of knowledge and funding. There are proven budget builds daily driven all over ther world with 400+hp, all costing a mere fraction of what other chasses would run ya. where are you located?

well budget at the moment isnt the best but working up to it.
what would be the best motor to drop into it full stop thats not gunna cost me an arm and a leg?

i like turbo motors i just have a fascination with them, so that being said is a sr20DET a good decision?

thanks

Best Bang for buck is an Avenir W11 Sr20det Motor just running stock boost. You're in Sydney, a good one from a reputable importer shouldn't be that hard to find. Being in Sydney you might just be able to get all you need from a front cut even... Like anywhere else in the world shop around and get references from local guys on the scene in your area/ Country..

It's not rocket science just "rocket" power
